Considering that we have existing redirects such as:
- 54th parliament of the UK → List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2005
- 55th parliament of the UK → List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2010
...should this page perhaps instead redirect to List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2010, which follows a (fairly) established format and clearly has more information on the makeup of the 55th Parliament? - The infobox template is flawed. The UK Parliament has been in existence since at least the 13th century, the numbering requirement of the template is spurious an if someone is claiming tha there have only been 55 parliaments since 1801, there should be verifiable evidence of that "fact". –– Jezhotwells (talk) 16:36, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'm not even sure we speak of Parliaments in the plural as opposed to one Parliament and with various sessions. The term Parliament refers not to the sitting but the institution. This seems to me to work on an American logic alien to the UK.--Scott Mac 16:50, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't know whether United Kingdom Parliament of 2010 is right. Perhaps if we're keeping this article a more appropriate name might be "Sitting of the United Kingdom Parliament: 2010-Present", although that's a bit of a long winded heading. Perhaps someone can find out what the correct language is. As for the content, I'm not sure that simply redirecting to List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2010 is sufficient. There are other events that happen during a parliamentary session such as by-elections, significant votes, and so on. Any thoughts on this? TheRetroGuy (talk) 19:38, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- By-elections and "other changes" to the makeup of the Parliament were handled at the bottom of List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2005; while the 2001 article simply linked to a List of United Kingdom by-elections since 1979. So there's no problem there. Significant votes? I'm not so sure. I'll have to do some poking around, as I'm sure there's been some similar outlet for such information in the past. --Tim Parenti (talk) 19:57, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
