There is an academic debate about whether there exists a "law" of uneven and combined development, or whether this is a fallacy. In this debate, there are different interpretations of the meaning of an historical law. Certainly, Trotsky himself referred to the "law" of uneven and combined development. He believed it to be a necessary characteristic intrinsic to all developmental processes, social and natural. Therefore, it would be appropriate to have a separate section on "Is there are "law" of uneven and combined development?" in the present article. However, as for myself, I have not got round to writing it yet. User:Jurriaan 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Literature by Trotsky?

Greetings! On which of Trotsky's works is the concept of uneven and combined development based on? The article emphasize that it is a concept created by Leon Trotsky, but does not make any references to his literal production. Cheers! Jayaguru-Shishya (talk) 19:35, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

I think I found something already: "The idea of Uneven and Combined Development (U&CD) originated in the writings of Leon Trotsky (1879-1940). Its most explicit formulation is found in the opening chapter of his History of the Russian Revolution (1932)."[1]

Original research

This article seems to contain a considerable amount of original research, and use of secondary sources could definitely be improved. In particular I am wondering if the section on Hilferding deserves to be here since (as the article says) there is no evidence that Hilferding was inspired by Trotsky's writings.
