Talk:Unequal exchange

Examples edit

The examples of Unequal Exchange given in the "Illustrations" section are not very adequate, are they. They are examples of the "buy cheap, sell dear" practice, which is not even an essentially capitalist practice. Based on the illustrations, one could deduce that the distributors are the bad guys. To insert the concept within a proper capitalist context, one would have to analyse not the buying and selling of commodities-in-general, but of labour-power. Then the concept of unequal exchange would acquire a much more complicated sense, in its connection to capital exports, imperialism, etc. 200.97.24.125 (talk) 15:43, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Improvements edit

When I originally piloted this article, I did not finish the footnoting, which still remains to be done. I would appreciate it if malicious amateurs such as the hyper-arrogant Bob Rayner (about whom there have been numerous complaints) would refrain from slashing material out of the article without good reason... simply because they've unilaterally decided they happen not to like it. Because, in that case, I have to replace all that material again, which is more work. I might remind would-be editors that this concept is NOT a mainstream macroeconomics concept, and therefore if mainstream economists find the concept dubious, that is not relevant for the exposition of the concept except in the sense that it could be noted that they find it dubious.Jurriaan (talk) 23:02, 12 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please stop the personal attacks. I'm sure there are websites which welcome polemics like this, and where it's acceptable to attack people who try bring content in line with mainstream sources, but this encyclopædia is not one of them. bobrayner (talk) 01:25, 17 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Beware of Bob Rayner's "editing" edit

The scam editor Bob Rayner User:Bobrayner specializes in cutting large bits out of leftwing articles that he doesn't like, for no reason at all or for some spurious reason. He doesn't understand anything about the subjectmatter. The article then has to be reset to what is was before his vandalism. This article is still being worked on from time to time and Rayner's destructive habits are unwanted here. Jurriaan (talk) 19:23, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

NNPOV edit

npov|lip-service to "controversial" in the intro + a strawmanned & unsourced "criticism" section, with unsourced & facile rebuttals, DOES NOT "balance" make Lx 121 (talk) 10:12, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
