Playstation Project

I am going to be doing some major reworking of this article on behalf of the Playstation Project. If you would like to assist with this process, please feel free to contact me. Taintedzodiac 14:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Initial reworking of the article completed. Need someone who has been following this game to aid with references and general information. Taintedzodiac 15:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Game Engine

Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 15:33, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Its in house. Says somewhere on the website... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.23.145.65 (talk) 20:35, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

This article

Must have been written by Naughty Dog's PR people or the biggest fanboy ever. The game isn't out, let's save the gushing praise until it gets good reviews.

I did my best to remove the blatant advertising in the Overview. I know next to nothing about the game, but that's what I could distil from what was there. Anyone with more knowledge should take a shot at the Game Features section. Eltargrim 12:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Ya, I mean I love my PS3 and am as hyped for it as anyone else, but the article is a little much.

New image required

The official logo is featured at the end of the official trailer for this game and should be screencapped and put as the main image. --Jack Zhang 10:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Spoiler

The IS a descendant (sp) of Sir Francis Drake has been changed to MAY BE a descendant. Was the first one spoiler that someone tried to fix?

The spoiler warning in the plot header should be removed altogether as it contradicts the style guide. Evilkeen (talk) 21:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Game Rating

Can we get a positive source on the rating? Official websites of the game and esrb still say unrated.

Fair use rationale for Image:Naughty-dog-ps3-project-untitled-20060526040214858.jpg

Image:Naughty-dog-ps3-project-untitled-20060526040214858.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Petition

This should be removed, it has little relevance to the topic and the likelyhood of it actually happening is nearly zero.

What?--WhereAmI (talk) 23:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

blood

should be noted blood effect is disabled on jap PS3 due to local censorship, it affects all game versions since it is actually the same in a different package. Cliché Online 17:28, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

How do you mean? On Japanese PSN accounts? Or on Japanese region consoles? And by "it affects all game versions since it is actually the same in a different package" do you mean any game sold anywhere will be effected on for mentioned Japanese PSN/consoles? I can see that, since Blu-Ray discs have enough capacity and Ratchet and Clank game also has different textures for Ratchet.--WhereAmI (talk) 23:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I have the game and play it on a Japanese PS3 Slim. I can say that all the blood is in there and very visible. Is this something related to the PS3 Slim? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.101.226.2 (talk) 03:51, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Descendants

Officially, the "monsters" are called Descendants [of the Spaniards], but I do not recall while playing the actual game the characters referring to them as such. Suggestions?--WhereAmI (talk) 01:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I don't remember them being mentioned as descendents either. I'll see if I can find a reference then maybe we can change them in the article. It would be nicer than just calling them mutants.P'sInTheShadows (talk) 15:31, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

They are referred to as "descendants" in the game's credits, voiced by Steve Blum and Fred Tatasciore

Thank you for mentioning exactly what I said in my first word, "Officially"--WhereAmI (talk) 05:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

trivia

Wanted to give you a heads up that someone is going to give you a hard time about the trivia section any day now.--Playstationdude (talk) 23:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

--I personally don't mind the trivia so much, though It looks as though most of it could be integrated pretty well into the article, and/or perhaps a section along the lines of "References to Other Naughty Dog Games". I do think the line about the characters hair being a slightly different shade in early concepts could and probably should be removed as it seems to really push the envelope, even as far as trivia goes.

In regards to the 'Ark of the Covenant' entry, I don't know if that implies that in an earlier version of the story they were looking for the Ark. All it could mean is that her character is jokingly making a reference to Indiana Jones. Evilkeen (talk) 23:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Weapons

I tried to start a section on the weapons used in the game. I tried to make the necessary links, but it's a bit bare as I'm not much of a weapons expert. Feel free to flesh it out. RepSchnell (talk) 20:21, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I dunno if it needs to be that detailed. Perhaps just a discussion on the choice to use weapon models that exist in the real world rather than fictional look-alikes. Evilkeen (talk) 20:53, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Weapon sections are considered as "gamecruft" and are not really appropriate. As suggested above, you can mention in the gameplay section that the weapons are based on real-world versions and possibly list a couple, and if there's developer information about how they picked the weapons, that would help, but otherwise this section isn't appropriate. --MASEM 21:13, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Good

You guys have done great editing to the article! I'm going to nominate it for good article, but remove the trivia.--Playstationdude (talk) 20:57, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Good article

Sorry, but I'm failing this article for GA status. It's a solid B article, but there are definitely things that need to get cleared up in order to become a GA.

  • The lead is probably not comprehensive or long enough. Please see WP:LEAD. My suggestion would be to include a snippet intro of the plot and the general reception (good, bad, mediocre).
  • The article doesn't seem comprehensive enough, nor is it cited as much as it should. Nothing is spoken about the development of the game, which is an important part of any video game article. Additionally, the fact about a series (the one with the citation needed template) must be cited. The Gameplay section is uncited as well.
  • The plot is too long and detailed. Try cutting a few things out.
  • The reception section is not detailed enough. More should be said about what the critics liked and disliked. It's good to add a few quotes from the reviewers about this.
  • Could you possibly find an English citation for a sequel? If not, the French one is OK, but you should use the language parameter in the Cite web template alerting users of the fact.

It's a solid start, but needs more work. bibliomaniac15 00:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

  • The story outline makes no sense. Its run-on sentance after run-on sentance. Please allow me to fix it and add more story detail. -deet 26 January 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.181.147.235 (talk) 05:27, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
I think the above has a good point. There's no reason the plot has to include every detail of the game. Evilkeen (talk) 05:39, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

okay..I've started fixing it, it will take awhile though. It should be done in the next few days -deet 27 January 2008 08:52 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.38.247.235 (talk) 03:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

The Story section

I'm kind of new to Wiki editing, but I was unable to undo the changes some kid (GoldenRuler1222) did to the story section. Can an admin revert them since it's locked due to conflict? He basically changed the entire thing to read "Hi Logan! STFU" —Preceding unsigned comment added by BlazingOwnager (talkcontribs) 04:58, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Please add that the story starts off the coast of Panama. This is important because of who Sir Francis Drake was, and you can confirm it here: http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/ps3/previews/uncharted--drake-s-fortune-4ef7cf.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.46.174.14 (talk) 13:57, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Raja's language

Anybody know what language Eddie Raja speaks? He says a few phrases in a foreign tongue and I'm curious as to what it is.PowderedToastMan (talk) 06:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC) He speaks Indonesian.

Elena's Changing Hair color

If you didn't know Elena was originally a brunette and then was changed to a blonde by Naughty Dog during the final stages of the game after E3 07'. If you watch the original trailer on the PSN or online you can clearly see she is a brunette. The Game Informer #168 April 2007 cover issue with Uncharted also has Elena pictured as a brunette. DevonTheDude (talk) 00:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Elena's Changing Camera

I have never seen this posted online but I noticed that Elena's video camera seemed to change brands similar to her hair color too. In the original trailer (on the PSN or online) and in the Game Informer issue #168 April 2007 you can see the video camera that Elena is using is a Sony HDV (High-def video camera) but in the released game the Sony brand and HDV have been changed to a made up company. The only reason I could see its disappearance is that Elena goes into the water with the camera during a cut scene, maybe Sony said that that mis represented the use of the camera (I assume the real camera can't go underwater) so they took the name and manufacturer off the camera for legal reasons. DevonTheDude (talk) 00:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Indonesian?

can someone give me an official source that says that Raja speaks Indonesian? in other words cite it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Megaman en m (talkcontribs) 19:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Is it really needed? I don't think it's necessary as what he spoke was clearly Indonesian, It's like asking an official source that the language in the game is Japanese or English. I'm an Indonesian and i can assure you that the language used is Indonesian, not others.. The only language similar to Indonesian is Malay/Melayu (Bahasa Indonesia is rooted from malay) spoken by Malaysian, but i don't think it is Malay, due to the spoken accent and the use of words like "sialan" and "tai", and the word they use for "speak" is usually "cakap" not "bicara".

Well, i did research a bit to find wheter there's anything official about the language, and i didn't find any... sorry if this doesn't help.
