The article certainly does not justify its own existence. The phrase itself is of great insignificance, though it has been used to introduce a discussion of Ben Gurion's attitude to the outside world and contrast it with Sharett's. See N. Caplan, '“Oom-Shmoom” Revisited: Israeli Attitudes Towards the UN and the Great Powers, 1948–1960' in A. Ben-Zvi, Aaron S. Klieman, and David Vital (eds), Global politics: Essays in Honour of David Vital (London, 2001), 167–99.
