1974 seems a bit late as Billy "Twister" McQuiston joined just after the Balmoral Furniture Company bombing in December 1971.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 18:55, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

So McDonald and Cusack reckon the Shankill Tartan Gang was was formally attached to the local UDA at a much earlier date than their opposite numbers on the other side of the city. Also, presuming the Twister interview is the one from Peter Taylor's book, I notice that McQuiston says he joined the UDA's youth movement and Taylor adds UYM in square brackets so McQuiston doesn't specifically name the UYM himself meaning its possible he joined the Tartan Gang that was formally attached to the local UDA and Taylor is mistaken in adding UYM. And it only took me ten months to come up with that! Keresaspa (talk) 01:38, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that was one of Taylor's few but glaring mistakes. The other being when he said the "hawks" had taken over the UVF in autumn 1975 rather than the correct autumn 1974! I came across an article published in May 1972 which highlighted the Tartan Gangs who were rampaging in east Belfast.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:44, 24 June 2012 (UTC) Chuck 41 yeoooooReply
