"because he released the payload"
editThe sentence about GHWB sounds completely weasely. He was decorated for heroism, not flying a garbage truck.Jarhed (talk) 05:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
POV problem /opinion
editRewrote the section regarding George H.W. Bush's actions while serving on the San Jacinto. Previous version seemed a bit opinionated and, to me anyway, somehow hinted that Bush was at fault for the death of his two crewmates. Tried to rewrite and deal with just the FACTS of the event, as all good Wiki entries should. Expanded slightly too, with a bit of new info. Sector001 (talk) 20:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Kamikaze "near miss" of 19 March 1945 needs reference
editFor 19 March 1945, the article states "While conducting operations off Kyūshū, Japan, ...on 19 March 1945, [she] escaped destruction when a kamikaze narrowly missed her." The USS San Jacinto CVL-30 Action Report of 14-25 March 1945 makes no mention of a kamikaze near miss on 19 March 1945. Other online sources report near misses by kamikazes on the USS San Jacinto CVL-30 in October of 1944 and 5 April 1945. Please add reference for this statement of 19 March 1945 or remove it. 2601:195:C082:6000:5581:7C98:D5BA:1F1E (talk) 19:15, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
