Talk:USS Rail (AM-26)

My grandfather, Clark Bixler sailed on the maiden voyage of the USS Rail. We have four photographs of his time spent aboard ship. One of these photographs shows an officer firing a rifle at a mine and the second photo shows the mine moments after detonation. Another photo shows C. Bixler and two shipmates kneeling on what I think is the aft deck of the ship. I believe he was discharged in 1919 and returned to his home in Cashmere Washington.

Davenport

I doubt this ship was ever at Davenport (Greater Manchester} - despite its name, it's inland, not a port at all. Maybe Devonport, location of HMNB Devonport? Colonies Chris (talk) 18:03, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
