Ship motto edit

The ship's (old?) patch, Image:USS North Carolina SSN 777 Patch.jpg includes the motto esse quam videri, which is the motto of the state of North Carolina, but the commissioning picture has the motto primus in proelio (translated as "First in fight"). A Navy webpage has a patch with that motto also, which seems a play on the slogan "First in Flight". What's the story? Was there a change made, or did some artist confuse the motto of North Carolina with that of North Carolina?

I had been wondering the exact same thing, but I have been unable to find any sources that say if or when the motto was changed. If it has changed then the image should be changed to reflect the new motto. Rreagan007 (talk) 16:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image placement edit

An IP user (123.103.210.114) added an image of a Miss USA model touring the boat at the yard, and is now repeatedly insisting that it be added prominently to the lead, instead of being placed in the gallery section with the other images in the article. They were advised to start a discission, but instead keep reverting the image back to the lead. (I'm not even sure this image should remain, we typically don't have such images on ship articles, but anyway...) I have started this thread for the purpose of discussing that image. - wolf 11:10, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh really? I've seen similar stuff before. Perhaps I can put it as the last picture. Let me know.123.103.210.114 (talk) 11:16, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
When I moved it to the gallery, I placed it in chronological order, which we typically do with images. (The ones that were already there were in such order.) That said, are you still contesting the changes I made? - wolf 11:33, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh no, I'm happy with this being in the gallery. I rather this than removal.123.103.210.114 (talk) 12:02, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Then I'm not sure why you kept reverting it from the gallery back to the lead, but if you're now ok with it in the gallery, I suppose we can consider this matter resolved. - wolf 12:10, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
