GA on Hold

edit

1. Well written?: Minor fail Pass :Although the prose of the article is good, there are several MoS issues that need to be addressed. Of particular note:

  • There is quite a bit of inconsistency with the formatting of the dates in terms of wikilinking. Some are formatted as [[January 12]] [[1894], while others aren't wikilinked at all (All dates should be wikilinked at least once. If they occur a second time, they don't need to be wikilinked). MoS Guidelines suggest that the dates be formatted like this: [[January 12]][[1894]]. This will automatically insert a comma into the article prose (at least it has in my experience). As such, I think that the formatting of this needs to be changed.   Done

2. Factually accurate?: very Minor Fail. Pass

Although in any other circumstances, I would pass this category immediately, there are one or two key sentences that I feel need a sufficient ref.

*"The steamer—carrying a cargo of lead and coal tar products reportedly worth $1,000,000—slipped past British cruiser Essex in a dense fog near Sable Island" needs a citation.   Done *"Freedom was assigned to the Cruiser and Transport Force, and after overhaul at New York, sailed on a voyage to Saint-Nazaire, France, and embarked troops for return to the United States" Could use a citation (as well as some expansion on the details of the overhaul) I'm able to take these things in stride.   Done

One those two issues are done, we should be good on this category.

3. Broad in coverage?: Pass

Although not entirely comprehensive, coverage is very broad; and as such, passes this category.

4. Neutral point of view?: Pass

5. Article stability? Pass

No evidence of edit-warring occuring recently (or at all). No objections.

6. Images?: Pass

Although very few images on the page, those that are used are appropriately tagged with copyright status. No objections here.

As such, I have placed the article On Hold. Changes should be made within a week, at which point my own assessment will come into play (fail, or extension on wait-period, depending entirely on how much progress has been made). If you want further clarification, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers! Cam (Chat) 00:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
