English pronunciation

edit

is given as /ˈtawin/ - this looks unclear to me - we don't normally write monophthongal /a/, and /i/ is the vowel of "see". Which vowels are they in terms of Wikipedia:IPA for English? Is it to rhyme with "now" and "in"? Lfh (talk) 11:39, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tow-in (to rhyme, as you say, with Now in) is the usual pronunciation, though according to the phonetics of Welsh, I believe it should be correctly pronounced more like "tu win", with the first syllable as in "tub". The emphasis in both cases is on the first syllable. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 19:27, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK. Well, we already have two Welsh pronunciations, so I'll just change the English IPA to rhyme with "now in". Thanks. Lfh (talk) 20:23, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welsh or British English

edit

There is a note at the start of the article that says it is written in British English, but this Talk page says Welsh English. We should chose one or the other. --Roly (talk) 08:00, 27 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
