editStorm05, the article needs a lot more work. "Degisination"? "Diamnu"? You've even spelt the storm name wrongly! Also, "$68.3 million dollars (2004 USD)" is very redundant - $ already refers to "dollars" - there is no need to say 'dollars' after 'million' again. Otherwise, it's a relatively notable storm so no complaints about whether the article should stay or not - definitely should stay. But, it needs a lot of work. – Chacor 13:48, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- I dont think $XXX million dollars is redundant as is the standard in any amount total especally for readers unfamiliar with the dollar sign. Storm05 14:08, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Uhm, no, the standard is if you use the sign then you don't use "dollars" again. And have you not made the typo fixes? – Chacor 12:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Uh no, even if the dollar sign refers to dollars it must specify which dollars ( and USD, NZD, CAD, etc) what year that ammount took place and its the standard to have the dollar sign in front an amount figure. see the other tc articles or other wikipedia articles for example before replying. and i alredy fixed the errors. - I'll phrase it differently. This isn't about the term "USD", it's about the term "dollars". How would you pronounce "5 dollars"? How would you pronounce "$5"? So how would you pronounce "$5 dollars"? – Chacor 14:53, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

I can't believe there's that much discussion over it. $5 million dollars is completely redundant, and even more so with 2004 USD. $63 million (2004 USD) is how it should be written, as it is done elsewhere on Wikipedia. Also, please get a spell checker. Hurricanehink (talk) 15:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, this article is absolutely abysmal in terms of grammar and phrasing. You should definitely consider using a spell checker on this and any future articles you plan to write; this is not the first time you've introduced articles in such poor condition, and you've tended to leave them once you've published them; you can't always make others fix mistakes that you yourself know better than to make after all this time. --Coredesat 05:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Please refrain from making pov statements like that as i already went through the article again and detected only one error. Storm05 16:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's not really a POV statement, it's just his opinion of your editing. I have the same opinion. It scares me that you failed to notice the name of the storm is still spelled wrong multiple times. There is only one more spelling error in there (canceled is correct, cancelled is incorrect), but the grammar/overall writing still needs work. Don't be afraid of using commas and semicolons. Also, when doing units, can you make it to a round number, like 550 km instead of 547.1? 340 miles has two significant digits (which is what I assume you used to convert to km), and so the converted value should also have two significant figures. If you're still working on this, I would also rather you use direct links to JMA and JTWC advisories, rather than relying on Gary Padgett. This site has them.
