Pictures of the periscopic sights

I noticed that there's no good English references for those Type 93 and Type 94 periscopic sights. I found some pictures by searching for the Japanese name in Google. Maybe we can include something? I had never heard of a periscopic gun sight before this.

Heavy machine gun?

I'm interested in what qualifies this as an HMG; the use of a standard rifle round would generally make it a medium machine gun. Is it because it weighs as much as a Browning M2 for no good reason? Herr Gruber (talk) 14:16, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

You forget that both definitions and scale can change over the decades. Definition-wise, the weight-class of a machine gun was/is not only dependend on caliber, but also on design and construction. A heavy tripod, extra cooling features (barrel shrouds, cooling ribs, water cooling, exchangeable barrel) and other features to support a stable firing platform are just as important to the definition as caliber.

As to scale, this changes with the technological development. The B-17 Flying Fortress will always be classified a heavy bomber, yet it is a puny and small aircraft compared to the B-52, developed only 20 years later.
