Two MountainsTwo Mountains (electoral district) — This is not primary usage. Usually in Montreal, the Lake or the town is meant by "Two Mountains" — 70.55.200.131 (talk) 11:45, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Weak oppose. Currently, there is only one page called "Two Mountains", so there is no need to disambiguate. 81.98.251.134 (talk) 13:02, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Except it's not what people commonly refer to as "Two Mountains". There are other examples where a redirect dumps you to another title, and a hatnote to a dab page or a disambiguated page name, since it's not what is likely to be searched for. 70.55.200.131 (talk) 22:57, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Given the context, though, I'd redirect the plain title Two Mountains to the dab page that exists at Deux Montagnes rather than trying to choose a "primary" meaning for this title. Bearcat (talk) 15:49, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, please don't redirect Two Mountains to Deux Montagnes, unless every entry on the latter page can be referred to as "Two Mountains", and vice versa. For instance, the AMT station is surely always referred to as "Deux-Montagnes", never "Two Mountains". 81.98.251.134 (talk) 16:10, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Then there's no need for the page move. Bearcat (talk) 17:10, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Town and the Lake are commonly referred to as "Two Mountains" in English, such as CJAD radio traffic reports. 70.55.200.131 (talk) 22:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
A topic whose proper name is "Two Mountains" should not play second fiddle for its own article title to things that get referred to as Two Mountains by some people but aren't actually named that. Bearcat (talk) 15:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
We do that all the time, look at the "Kiev" vs "Kyiv", where Kyiv is the official name. Since the official names in Quebec are in French (and not English) the English names are unofficial, even if used by the English speaking Quebec community. 70.55.200.131 (talk) 04:17, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Indeed we do do that all the time; according to current consensus codified in policy, the primary topic should get the page name, regardless of whether that is its "proper" name in some sense or not. In the absence of a primary topic (as appears to be the case here), a disambiguation page should be used. --Rogerb67 (talk) 21:33, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Support and make Two Mountains a dab page for everything commonly referred to as "Two Mountains". You could also create disambiguated redirects if you want to refer to them as "Two Mountains" on the dab page, per WP:PIPING. I don't think redirecting a translation of a term to a dab page is a good idea in most cases, and apparently not here. --Rogerb67 (talk) 01:06, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Any additional comments:

Before someone gets pedantic about how to create a dab page... it was declined because there is already one??? (I couldn't find one) I'm guessing it's because the hatnote is small. 70.55.200.131 (talk) 11:47, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think the person who closed it thought you wanted a disambiguation page named "Two Mountains". In any case, I created it for you. Since there seems to be some discussion here, I'll hold off moving the pages until we have more of a consensus. I'll link the dab off Two Mountains. --Rogerb67 (talk) 01:13, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
