Conflict

The list given here conflicts with most lists I have seen, which give Pedubast and Shoshenq IV (and sometimes Iuput I) as the first rulers of this dynasty, leave Takelot II in the 22nd Dynasty, and give Iuput II as the last ruler of the dynasty. The problem seems to be that the article does not list kings of the traditional 23rd dynasty, but kings of Upper Egypt during 22nd and 23rd dynasties. Which actually is a good thing. The text itself refers to "kingdom" (ie, Upper Egypt) and not actually to the 23rd dynasty which is an erroneous heading. As far as I understand, Manetho confused some kings into impractical division between dynasties. It is here attempted to corrected. But of course it does not correspond Manethonian list of 23rd dynasty (whose some kings reigned in Thebes and some in Delta). The modern research has afaik identified relaively well where their spheres where, apparently info which Manetho had not proper access to. (btw, actually Manethonian king lists - what are left as references in other opera - anyway missed some kings, who then have later been thrusted into some convenient place in dynasty divisions) Arrigo 22:49, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

His Year 13 is now attested on a donation stela at Dakhla which was made by the Chief of the Shamin-Libyans, Nes-Djehuti. Nes-Djehuti was most likely the same person who is named in the Smaller Dakhla Stela that dates to Year 24 of Piye. (see J. Janssen, JEA 54 [1968]) pp.161-66)

Moved from Libyan kings of Upper Egypt to Twenty-third dynasty of Egypt

There are a number of prominent Egyptologists who write that the 23rd Dynasty was based in Lower Egypt (Kitchen believes at Leontopolis (as even the Wikipedia article says), and Leahy at Tanis). It is not the job of Wikipedia to decide who is correct. Besides it seems a bit strange to call this Libyan Kings of Upper Egypt when Dynasty 25 is not called Nubian Kings of Upper Egypt, the 22nd Dynasty the Libyan Kings of Lower Egypt and so forth. More clean-up needed

Hey, I know everyone wants to show off just how much they know about ancient Egyptian history (& prove they've read more than a simple amateur like me has), but let's keep the amount of detail on the specific rulers to a minimum -- the articles on those individuals is where we should be adding details & footnotes, not the tables in this article. If I remember a week from now, I'll take the time to move all of that stuff out of this article, but consider that I'm providing fair warning to all of you that I'll be making these changes to this article. -- llywrch 01:34, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Timeline Issues

This article has several issues relating to dates. For one most of the kings on the list do not fit in with the set 837–728 time period for Dynasty 23. Furthermore, a Dynasty in the Egyptian sense does not necessarily represent a family, as in the traditional sense of the word but rather the country of Egypt during the earlier mentioned time period (notice the capital D in Dynasty in the title, as it is a proper noun).
