Turkey red oil
editThe search term "Turkey Red Oil" should not redirect to this article (as it currently does). Turkey Red oil is a completely different substance from the Turkey Red dye process. Turkey Red oil refers to sulfonated vegetable oil (usually castor oil). See the Wikipedia article on Castor Oil, subheading Turkey Red Oil, for a reference.Hmcdonald3 (talk) 22:20, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
Clarification
editCan we get a clarification on the use of "madder" as a verb in step 14? Is that a particular process or just the use of madder(noun) on the cloth?? WesT (talk) 22:20, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- This section is quoted from a historic source and I'm no expert, but I think that "to madder" something means to "color it red" and the noun "madder" is rubia tinctorum, a red plant rich in the red dye alizarin. So to "madder with madder" means to "color something red with rubia tinctorum," I think. KeeYou Flib (talk) 03:56, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
