- It doesn't. They just leave the ignition on and let the engine idle under its normal ECU control. There is no boost during this cooldown phase. Andy Dingley (talk) 14:38, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

editI noticed this was a stub article, and as I myself am a vehicle enthusiast this was a very interesting article for me to contribute to. Seeing as my project vehicle was actually previously equipped with a turbo timer I was able to have some personal experience for my contribution as well. In this article I added more information on the operation and definition of this term, adding information about what happens when hot oil is left in a turbocharger, and what can happen as a result. On top of that, there were no sources or citations, so I sourced a few articles about these devices and added those as well. I added the history of this system as well, and the company that originally designed it. Some common applications of this vehicle seem to be important, as there are many types of vehicles these are not needed in. Finally, I summed the information up with it's use in vehicles today, and how use of these isn't as common as it used to be, but they are still used and can be helpful in many applications.
