The season is not over yet edit

It is premature to put end dates, when the season is still ongoing, and since my revert was reverted, and not to start an edit war lets start a discussion instead.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 08:34, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

True the season isn't over, but the end date is assured at this point through reliable sources. Gateman1997 (talk) 02:46, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
It shouldn't read 2013, it should read present, because the team is still active, not a past team, which adding the date makes it appear.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 04:22, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Not sure what makes you think that adding the present year makes it seem like it's the past. It just indicates the team has an end date in the current year unlike the open ended "present". Gateman1997 (talk) 04:41, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Since it is apparent that there is no compromising, I will ask for a third opinion.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 18:44, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
All I am saying is, I think the change should occur, just not until after the season is over. Once the season is over, and the Tucson Padres are no longer an active team, then we can end an end date; otherwise one can interpret 2013 to be on 1 JAN 2013 or 31 DEC 2013. Although, the team will end with 2013 as its final season, the season is not over, and the end date makes it appear as if the subject of this article is a historical team, rather than a current team.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 18:55, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  Response to third opinion request:
Besides this season end date, the article needs other fixes – which should lead to an overall resolution. Please explain more about the Portland history, the aborted effort to relocate to Escondido (this comes out of left field), what are the Colors, and tell us more about how MoutainStar came to purchase the team. As for the infobox "end dates", I suggest you compromise and leave them blank. E.g., (2011– ). In a few months one of you can change it to "2011–13". – S. Rich (talk) 22:24, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
The team, is an off shoot of the likewise Padres affiliate Portland Beavers, before the team was moved to Tucson and took on the name Padres. Initially the Tucson move was temporary, with the goal of the Moorad ownership to move the team closer to its MLB associated team in San Diego, where it was planned to build a new ballpark to house the team in Escondido. However, due to political opposition the land for the ballpark never materialized, and the team was remain in Tucson. Since the ownership of the San Diego Padres and the Tucson Padres fell through, a new ownership group bought the Tucson Padres and are planning to move them to El Paso, Texas next year.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 19:51, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
