Quotation marks, unsubstantiated claims/opinions

edit

I'm relatively new to this whole wikipedia editing thing, so bear with me should I make any errors.

Anyways, upon coming to this page I found quotation marks surrounding many instances of the words 'deformity' and 'correction' (when in relation to correctional surgery). They served no real purpose, and only made the article flow more poorly; thus I removed them.

There is also no citation of any sort in the last paragraph under physical effects, and the entire "controversy" section suffers from a complete lack of citation as well. I placed 'citation needed' tags on both, as I personally do not have any factual information with which to confidently alter them.

Now, I'm not sure if I'm stepping out of bounds here, but I'd like to mention that while I may be new to editing itself, I do know for certain that we're supposed to be sticking to fact here. I realize why certain individuals may disagree with the idea of classifying breasts with a certain appearance as a deformity or defining surgery on them to be correctional, and heck, I'm not really sure I completely agree either, but that is 100% opinion and this is absolutely not the proper venue to be airing personal grievances with societal issues. If a statement cannot be backed up with cold, hard fact, it does not belong here. The same goes for the quotation marks; I understand whoever placed them was attempting to make a point, but this is not the place for it. All it does it reduce the overall quality of the article and raise questions as to how unbiased the information is.

Tuberous breast deformityTuberous breasts – The term "deformity" in the title is unnecessary, as the expression "tuberous breasts" is also regularly used by itself to refer to this condition. This expression should be preferred as the title of this article, since, according to the naming policy, an article should avoid terms that appear to be judgmental.
