Ref types? edit

Was there any particular reason for un-Harvarding the refs? Pesky (talkstalk!) 20:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I didn't un-harvard them, I simply used the {{Sfn}} instead of the {{Harvnb}} template, owing to the former's many advantages. One does, for example, not need to name the refs when using Sfn. --Eisfbnore talk 20:46, 17 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK; I'm pretty new to WP still, and haven't come across the sfn thing before. Pesky (talkstalk!) 21:17, 17 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dates? edit

Remarkably, this article about a publication does not contain the dates (even the years) it was founded and went out of business. Indeed, it seems to be missing a lot of important information. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 19:53, 25 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I had major trouble even finding out enough information on Truth just for this little stubby thing! If you can point me in the direction of some sources, I'd be only too happy to bulk this up. I tried dropping a not on the WikiProject Journalism thing, but heard nothing back. Can you help out at all with this - I would love to expand this article with some decent info. I am adding the date of closure. Tim riley (talk) 15:42, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The dates given for Brooks's editorship need attention. In the second of the two debates to which a link is provided he is named as the editor and chairman. His Times obit confirms 1940 as the date of his appointment. The references in the article to his being appointed in 1941, 'after the debates in the House of Commons, cannot therefore be right. My mistake, almost certainly - I was looking up in CB's journals, and likely got the year wrong. I'll go do a quick double-check on that. Pesky (talkstalk!) 08:09, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yup, sorry about that - comes of editing under the influence of exhaustion! That'll teach me! I think the problem came from me going back to the original journals instead of just using the Crowson book. Pesky (talkstalk!) 08:15, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
