In the movie Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933) a newspaper is shown (at 0:42:57); it incidentally includes the following article (not entirely legible, hence the occasional '???' here):
Suit To Begin Today Over Delmonico Name
Trial of an action brought today by the
Delmonico Products Corporation
for an injunction restraining Benjamin
Winter, Inc., owner of the Hotel
Delmonico at 502 Park Ave., from
using the name Delmonico in con-
nection with the hotel or restau-
rants operated by the Winter org-
anization, is scheduled to start be-
fore ???? Court Justice W???-
??? in White Plains today.
The Delmonico Products Corpora-
tion is to be represented by A.U.
????, who claims that his client
purchased the exclusive right to use
the name in purchase at public auc-
tion in 19??.
In view of the actual address and actual names being mentioned, especially Benjamin Winter, Inc., who actually did purchase the property in 1929, it is presumably not a fabrication. Can anyone shed light on the subject?
