Similar to ITCZ and Monsoon trough

Is the tropical rain belt the same thing, or related to, the Intertropical Convergence Zone? There are some great pictures in that article that this article could use, but i don't want to add them without being sure they show the same thing. Foobaz·o< 18:24, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Article is inaccurate

Hawaii, which is a tropical area in the Northern hemisphere, experiences its rainy season from October through March — NOT May through September as implied in the article. Likewise Northern California, which is completely dry May through September, and completely rainy October through March. This article is incorrect and needs a major overhaul, complete with references and citations, or it stands to be deleted. Softlavender (talk) 10:55, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

It looks like someone wrote this based upon high school geography, assuming that the ITCZ/monsoon trough travels from the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of Capricorn, even though those latitudes have more to do with areas where the sun can be overhead than anything else. If you wish to expand the article, there are images of the positions of the Pacific portion of the monsoon trough with the monsoon trough article which can help explain how far north/south it gets in the Pacific ocean. It does not appear that the rain belt/ITCZ/monsoon trough moves south of the equator across the eastern Pacific or Atlantic oceans. I've made the appropriate changes to the text in the lead, but did not add references as I am unsure the article will survive without a significant copy edit and expansion. Proposal to make article a redirect to monsoon trough

It appears the article tries to tackle the topic in a less developed way than the monsoon trough article, which is a GA. I propose this article be cleaned out and made into a redirect for monsoon trough. Opinions? Thegreatdr (talk) 22:14, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
