Importance edit

Once the final death toll and damages come in, should the article be high in importance? --Yueof theNorth 00:45, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Already upped it to high. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 00:47, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Death totals edit

Tropical Storm Agatha has now killed 102 (at last check) people, which qualifies it for listing at the Pacific hurricane list. I've taken the liberty of adding it there. Agatha is now the deadliest Pacific hurricane since Pauline. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm doubtful fewer than three of the 40+ missing people are alive. Once their inevitable deaths become official, Agatha will move past Ismael as the sixth-deadliest Pacific hurricane. Should the worst happen and more than (at least) 235 die, Agatha will be the fifth-deadliest Pacific hurricane, qualifying it for listing on the template. Storm-related sinkholes edit

CNN Article - This article shows a picture of a monstrous sinkhole caused by the storm. Now none of this is new, i live in florida, and it happens all the time, but the fact that it happened in the middle of a heavy urban area is probably important to at least mention in the article, even just to highlight the other dangers besides landslides and flooding of storms such as Agatha. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.138.221 (talk) 01:58, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I wonder how deep that is?--DAI (Δ) 14:07, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I tried to get a picture but the filters kept getting it. Just google Sinkhole Agatha in images and you'll get all of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.138.221 (talk) 07:09, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Interesting Note edit

Agatha is the deadliest eastern pacific tropical cyclone so far in the 21st Century, not sure if that bears any mention or if it is trvial. -Marcusmax(speak) 03:04, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

deadliest since '97, more exactly--DAI (Δ) 11:28, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Costly storm edit

Agatha caused ~1.5 billion in damage, should the "Costliest pacific hurricanes" list be mentioned in the main article?98.206.70.2 (talk) 20:33, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

In this list, it is mentioned that Frank caused 136 deaths. However, in the main article it mentions that Frank's and 8-e's precursor waves caused the deaths. Is this list supposed to include deaths from precursor waves? Or did Frank really kill that many people on land? Rye998 (talk) 21:45, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Take off 2010 edit

maybe we should take off the 2010 because Agatha has a good chance of being retired due to being so deadly and also costly damage. 39.tg (talk) February 16 2011

It wasn't retired, somewhat surprisingly. CrazyC83 (talk) 01:46, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Please see Hurricane Karl#And... for an ongoing discussion about retirees getting main articles or not. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 12:03, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tropical Storm AgathaTropical Storm Agatha (2010) – Name is not retired yet, Agatha in 1992 also caused damages N-C16 (talk) 10:20, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - N-C16 moved this page a few days as the name was not retired and Agatha 1992 caused some minor damage. The move was reverted by @Hurricanehink: after a brief discussion on N-C16's talk page which outlined that this Agatha was the primary topic and thus deserved the main article because of the death toll.Jason Rees (talk) 11:21, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Correct. Per the Wikipedia policy WP:COMMONNAME, this should stay at the current title. No other Agatha was nearly as notable. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 11:32, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Strong Oppose - This storm was by far the most notable Agatha. Jdcomix (talk) 12:01, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oppose – Every time someone brings up Tropical Storm Agatha, I always refer it to this storm. Not very many people know about the Agatha in 1992. HurricaneGonzalo | Talk | Contribs 19:45, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
