Merger proposal edit

I propose that Sri Yantra be merged into this page under the appropriate section. Or the content related to Sri Yantra on this page be transferred t the Wiki page on Sri Yantra Karthik (talk) 09:15, 18 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Potential merge with Lalita discussion edit

Lalita be transformed into a disambig. The current be split into 2: Lalita(gopi) and the other part be merged into this article.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 05:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:INDIA Banner/Tripura Addition edit

Note: {{WP India}} Project Banner with Tripura workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Tripura or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- Amartyabag TALK2ME 11:10, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please correct: edit

    • As it is said in Lalita sahasranama, 'Na shathaya na dushtaya na vishwasaya karhichith sri mathra bhakti yuktaya sri vidya raja vediney'....

This quote in the article is not part of the official 'Lalitaa Sahasranaama', not correctly transcribed, apparently not even sanskrit. Please correct. Tantric faiths tend to be very complex; please treat them with due accuracy! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.49.84.1 (talk) 22:06, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This does really need to be addressed. I've moved this section down to the bottom of the article in a Sri Vidya subsection, but will need time to pull references and rewrite the section totally. UPDATE: I've removed this entirely and replaced it with a single line and a link to the Sri Vidya page. The entire section was irrelevant to the discussion of the goddess, not to mention unsupported by references, and written from a non-objective point of view. I would recommend to future authors that any discussion of Sri Vidya on this page be directly related to Tripurasundari specifically. tripura etymology edit

the monier williams explanation of PURA in TRIPURA is problematically specific. Maybe if we included an explanation of the legend of the TRIPURA it would make sense, but it seems to make the section confusing. Three cities seems the simplest and most accurate translation to present first (we all know Monier Williams didn't know much about tantra when he made his dictionary). Alternately, Christopher Wallis translates this as Three Citadels (in Tantra Illuminated) and claims they refer to her three forms. The translation of three worlds is obviously poetic and not literal, which is fine if presented as such. But the literal translation, Beautiful Woman (Sundari) of the Three Cities/Citadels (Tripura) is very difficult to glean from this section as is. Orphaned references in Tripura Sundari edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tripura Sundari's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Debbarma1996":

Regarding Page move from Tripura Sundari to Lalita Tripura Sundari edit

Hi @245CMR: @Redtigerxyz: I am suggesting to move from Tripura Sundari to Lalita Tripura Sundari. Since it is the full and actual name. And also more than Tripura Sundari the name "Lalita" is more famous. We can go with that if possible — as "Lalita (goddess)" or "Lalita Devi". What is your opinion on this - MRRaja001 (talk) 15:31, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

She is known by various name - Shodashi, Lalita, Rajarajeshwari, Tripura. S. Shankaranarayan, Kinsley, Frawley call her Tripura-sundari in their books on the Mahavidyas. I suggest no change in name. Also, Gaudiya Vaishnavas regard Lalita as the chief gopi of Krishna-Radha and thus a goddess. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:57, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
In most of the sources I encountered, Tripura Sundari is more commonly used..245CMR.👥📜 16:04, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Unintelligible edit

This section on her legend is almost unintelligible. It needs thorough editing. 75.162.188.28 (talk) 23:19, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
