The reference to the size of Tribhuvandas Foundation, being probably the largest community owned health organisation in Asia, is from the opening address of the Chairperson of the National Dairy Development Board, Dr.(Ms) Amrita Patel - " Tribhuvandas Foundation, which is Asia’s largest NGO, works in over 600 villages in the State in the field of maternal and infant care. What is unique about the programme of the Foundation is that it rides on the back of milk. It is the village milk co-operative that appoints a village health worker and pays an honorarium to the village health worker to undertake the work. So it is milk paying for health." This workshop , the first South–South workshop, on ‘Smallholder dairy production and marketing—Constraints and opportunities’, was jointly organised by ILRI and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of India, with financial support from NDDB and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). Societies Almost all societies were contacted regarding TF activities, General Annual Report 2007 - 08 provided to all, all TF villages provided annual report of activities done in respective villages 416 Annual General Meetings attended 1,664 employees of 422 societies provided health check up services 70 societies contributed additional financial support for health camps, for vaccination, for blood donation and for Thasra centre Other Activities With donation from Smt. Madhuben Suryakantbhai Patel of Dantali(P), a sonography unit has been started at Anand along with Gynec Clinic, Antenatal Clinic 24 students were facilitated for field work, planned surveys were done 496 guests visited TF New (Sixth) TF centre opened at Thasra 9 Medical Camps were organized with the help of like-minded organizations VHWs were facilitated to join as ASHAs FNGO project started in two public health subcentres viz. Bhanthla and Maletadi - one each in Balasinor and Kapadvanj Telemedicine Unit is functioning at Balasinor Centre, 67 patients took advantage of this facility.
