That puzzled me, too. It happened automatically when I published the article. Oddly, the same thing happened when I moved Trial of Kate Dover to mainspace. Yet the biographical article paired with it, Kate Dover, did not automatically appear in italics. I had assumed that maybe trial names get italics on WP? Either way, it wasn't my doing. Bit dubious about her being Mary Scanlon/Scanlan as she appears with her husband Michael and loads of children in the 1891 and 1901 Census (I found a possible 11 children), she clearly was Mary Corcoran before she married but it appears there may be more than one in the Leeds area. Do we have any actual biographical stuff other than being refered to as "Mary Fitzpatrick, alias Corcoran, alias Mary Ann Gallagher". MilborneOne (talk) 21:01, 26 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree on that point, although I hadn't seen a post-1881 census for a Mary Scanlon of Leeds. Thank you for that information. But this is the reason why I have already questioned it, and have sent for the Williams book from Amazon - I must wait a couple of days for that to arrive. Today I shall order some BMD certificates as well. The Google Books version of Williams only gives us the last part of the text section on Fitzpatrick, and I need to see the beginning. I would also like to see whether Fitzpatrick could write - the marriage certificate may possibly show whether she signed with a cross. Google Books doesn't show us Wiilliams' sources (at least I didn't find that) but I'm guessing she consulted the prison records at Kew. Pity she doesn't say which prison. Storye book (talk)
