Resolving NPOV Issues

We hope the article is now neutral. Please note that the artist is not the writer of this article. In fact, after an encounter of a group of the old-students with the artist the students have decided to collaborate in writing about her. None of the collabratros, of course, has any previous experience in writing encyclopedic articles. An article in the Sharvand of Toronto ( Vol.10, No 532, Friday Nov. 2000, P. 30.) documents the encounter with the artist. It states; "Few weeks ago, in a trip to Vancouver for vacationing, the play of fate created the occasion for an encounter with my old-time professor Guity Novin. While reading some local newspapers, in a shop in North Vancouver, I saw a picture of Guity Novin in the editorial page. The editorial entitled �Guity Novin, The Quite Artist in Vancouver�. The editor of Payvand Mr. Mahjouri reported of another chance meeting with the artist when he did not recognize the artist. He continued � � few days later I realized what an important artist had entered into the newsroom and then quietly had slipt away without introducing herself. The writer then stated that � Guity is the first woman graphic artist in Iran that her works were widely published in the pre-revolutionary Iranian media. These days Guity is among us, and is working on her art quietly.� I was ecstatic after reading this article since 28 years ago I had the privilege of being her student at the Construction College.� The student then tells the story of how he had managed to meet the artist in the Granville Island studio. He and a number of other old-students then try to do research for corroborating this article. They have communicated with the artist and the artist has provided various historical documents about her work.

I've removed some of the categories. They are way too over the top for a minor subject like this. Art movement, fine (even though it's only one artist of local note). But Western Art? Modern Art? That's too much. Freshacconci 17:26, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

This is not a valid article

Guity Novin might merit an article, but on current evidence Transpressionism does not. The main reference is one newspaper article. This is simply not enough. Outside wikipedia, there are only 35 unique google hits, most of them on self-promotional web sites. Google hits including wikipedia show this article to be the main source of information on the movement, which is not permissible.

Furthermore this article has been linked from many other articles[1]. These links need to be removed.

One solution is to move the essential information to a section of Guity Novin and use this page as a redirect to that one. Otherwise it can be proposed for deletion.

This eradication effort is somewhat heavy-handed

I just checked some references.

• . In page 713 of the textbook on abnormal psychology by Oltmanns,Emmery, and Tylor, (Prentice Hall, Toronto, 2001) is written " ... Guity Novin is the founder of the Transpressionism movement in painting". Thus, if a student wants to know what's Transpressionism? he/she should be able to find his/her answer in Wikipedia. Should he/she not?

• . In page 8 of Julie Huard's book "Le Carnaval de la licorne -- lyrique a saveurs d'amour" (Les edition l'interligne --2001)it is written "Guity Novin...est diplomee en Beaux-arts en Design...Depuis 1996, elle pratique ce que le Globe an Mail a qualifie de 'transpresssionism'.

Therefor, if a reader of French poetry wants to know what's 'transpressionism' he/she should be able to find his/her answer in Wikipedia. Should he/she not?

• . In page 27 of the art magazine 'Preview -- The Gallery Guide for Alberta, British Columbia, Oregon, and Washington' - June/July/August 1998, is written: : "Guity Novin intoduces The Transpressionism Movement; Mythologically Inspired Paintigs ... in Guthenham Gallery, 1320 Johnston street, Granville Island". If an art historian wants to know Whats ....Should she/he not?

• Many artists like the Quebequa painter Marie LaChance in various forum such as e-bay declare that they have been influenced by Transpressionism (see: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:2sox9jqSlMcJ:www.mortgage-rate-calculator.ws/item-88-7414159850.php+Transpresionism&hl=en&gl=ca&ct=clnk&cd=1). If a reader of these websites wants to know whats .... Should she/he not?

and ther are many many more of such examples including various websites like Kargah, Iran Chamber and so on.

Evidence that any notable artist except Guity Novin has declared themselves to be part of Transpressionism would help... if it's an one-woman parade, it should be described in the Guity Novin article. --Alvestrand 14:35, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

My name is Terri Baugh Norman and I was one of the artists mentioned in the Guity Novin transspressionism movement review, the author contacted me and asked if she could include me in the article, I was very flattered and am pleased to be considered a transpressionist; it was only by happenstance I found the article on Wikipedia. I have an old youtube video titled 'Dazymaze, 25 years of Creating' that shows some of my older work.
