The rolling stock

edit

The current rolling stock is a two car DMU which is either second hand British or continental European and which comes complete with buffers and chain couplers. Peter Horn User talk 02:11, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

The illustrations in this promotion show European rolling stock. Peter Horn User talk 12:10, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't see any MLW locomotive nor any restored Passenger car in this link. Can anybody identify this pair? @Slambo: Peter Horn User talk 18:16, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
This is their email address: centrale@reseaucharlevoix.com Peter Horn User talk 22:18, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't recognize it offhand, and their website doesn't appear to mention what model the DMU is either. Slambo (Speak) 11:08, 31 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Slambo:. Would you try to email them as I already did? My email address is peter.j.c.horn@gmail.com . On second thought, they are probably French. Peter Horn User talk 21:33, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't speak French either, but I wonder if our friends at WikiProject UK Railways would recognize the rolling stock. Slambo (Speak) 17:50, 3 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I can tall just by looking at it that it's not British, so not sure why it's relevant to WikiProject UK Railways. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:33, 3 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
According to this page, its German-built. Looks quite similar to DB Class 627. Could be worth dropping a line on the German WP page. Lamberhurst (talk) 08:04, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Lamberhurst:. I would never have thought that this could be of German origin. I'll attend to this later and follow up on your suggestion. Peter Horn User talk 13:42, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks to @Bermicourt: the definite answer is found in Please identify the rolling stock Peter Horn User talk 20:04, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

What happened to

edit

What happened to the 8 Metra cars and the 2 MLWs? The 2 MLWs might possibly have stayed behind for freight service. But did they? Peter Horn User talk 00:38, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

No answer yet. Peter Horn User talk 15:02, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Potential use of barrier vehicle

edit

Transition era AAR knuckle coupler. The gap in the knuckle can accommodate the link of a chain of a Buffers and chain coupler and the pin would be an extra, but this was probably never done anywhere.

A barrier vehicle equipped with buffers and a transition Janney coupler as a dual coupler could be useful to haul the two married pairs of DB Class 628.1 of the Charlevoix tourist train. Peter Horn User talk 00:56, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Moved. See rough general agreement below to rename this article to what appears to be its common name in English sources. Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing! (nac by page mover) Paine Ellsworth, ed.  put'r there  08:08, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Charlevoix tourist trainTrain de Charlevoix – "Charlevoix tourist train" is a description of the service and not its actual name. All current branding uses the name "Train de Charlevoix" in English and French. Looking at old records, the service is sometimes described in passing as "the Charlevoix tourist train" but that doesn't equate to the name of the service. It's also described as either a tourist or ski train, with the location given as either Charlevoix or Le Massif, in various permutations of English and French. Seems obvious to give the article the actual name of the service. Madg2011 (talk) 00:31, 22 February 2019 (UTC)--Relisted. –Ammarpad (talk) 05:55, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose per sources in use in the article. If there are more recent reliable secondary sources noting this name change, please put them in the article and I'll reconsider. -- Netoholic @ 22:52, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
None of the sources currently used in the article state that the name of the service is "Charlevoix tourist train." I think the best recent source is the press release and associated material about VIA Rail's partnership with the company, which clearly refers to "Train de Charlevoix" in English. Not to mention the service's own website. Madg2011 (talk) 04:52, 23 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Googling for "charlevoix train" confirms the nom's claims well enough. It's certainly the name used by at least some sources, and that makes it an improvement over the current descriptive title. --В²C 02:35, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
