Production years

edit

Toyota produced the JZ powered Mark II Blit until June of 2007. See: http://www.toyota-global.com/company/history_of_toyota/75years/vehicle_lineage/car/id60013045/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:420:C0C8:1005:0:0:0:434 (talk) 23:38, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Engine swap

edit

how hard is it to put a jdm 2jzgte motor in an american 1993 lexus gs 300 and what changes would i have to make to make it work—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 141.156.162.177 (talkcontribs) 21:33, 7 February 2006 (UTC).Reply

it would be fairly easy. best thing to do is buy the front clip of the vehicle you are getting the engine from. that way you would have all the little things like various clips and trim pieces. other than that, it should bolt right in (i think). also, get the wiring harness, transmission and driveline. That's great guys, but is any of this relevant to the 1JZ or 2JZ? If so, should there be a section added about swapping the 1JZ or 2JZ into other vehicles? Space Turbo (talk) 16:41, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Redaction of 2JZ-GTE

edit

To the user who redacted my rewrite of the 2JZ-GTE section: thank you, but it is encyclopedic beyond reason for a relatively small section.

FYI: Whoever provided the false/ineffective data prior to my revision must have been mental. Whatever you see in this section was provided by me. Citations could not be made for lack thereof (could I cite my brain?).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Setsunakute (talkcontribs) 19:22, 31 July 2007 (UTC).Reply

I think citing your brain is original research so it's not acceptable. I don't question what you wrote (I'm not the one who altered it), but it's a lot harder to protect the article from vandalism and misinformation without sources other editors can check.~ Dusk Knight 22:31, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

2JZ-GE

edit

The article says the 2JZ-GE was available on the Supra only until 1998. Was the naturally aspirated Supra not available in Japan after then?~ Dusk Knight 22:31, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

3S-GTE's in JGTC JZA80s

edit

When the JZA80s were introduced to the JGTC, the JGTC JZA80s were powered by bored out 3S-GTEs right from the start. Toyota switched to a tuned version of the 3UZ-FE for the Supra for the 2004 season onward. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HashiriyaGDB (talkcontribs) 00:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unnecessary for this page. Space Turbo (talk) 01:26, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

1.5JZ

edit

Where did this section go and why? Technically, the 1.5JZ is a JZ engine, even if it's made from a hodgepodge of different JZ's, right? Space Turbo (talk) 01:26, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

This article only talks about engines as supplied from the factory. The 1.5JZ is a strictly non factory engine. The best we could do is to mention in the 2JZ section that some owners put the 1JZ head on the 2JZ block to make a high compression custom version. But this trick of using heads and blocks from different engines has been used by owners for decades and the list of owner customisations could go on forever.  Stepho  (talk) 03:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Referencing of output figures

edit

Please keep this section clean--it is, after all, a rather oft-visited article--by omitting references of output figures. It's already well-known that the engine is notorious for high output in tuner culture, but it isn't the only engine in the world that is capable of it. So don't glorify the 2JZ block; avoid the juvenile "has been known for... 1600HP" et al. This gives Japanese motoring a poor reputation of very primitive tuning principles. --Setsunakute 20:01, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

it isn't the only engine in the world that is capable of it, but it is the easy engine in the world to do so. 1600hp and some cases 2000hp name an inline 6 that has the part to do so....... T.W.G

Sure, but can you prove it? With a legitimate source? Is this an exceptional figure? How and why? Are there many accounts of this? Are there issues involved in this kind of tuning that would prove detrimental to the engine? Finally, does it make any sense to include any of this in the article? Why? Don't just throw down a figure, expect people to know what you're talking about and assume that it is true. Please be a little more diligent. Space Turbo (talk) 16:52, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

1JZ-GTE

edit

I did some editing of this entry today. I wanted to clean it up for a while as it looked like it was written by a fanboy. javascript:insertTags('Space Turbo (talk) 15:09, 5 January 2009 (UTC)',,)Reply

One more issue, when was the second generation of the 1JZ-GTE manufactured? Space Turbo (talk) 16:47, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The toyota JZ engine (1JZ) appeared earlier than 1990 , in early 1989 models in Supra's and other S model Toyota'sKongkit (talk) 02:21, 17 June 2009 (UTC)KongkitKongkit (talk) 02:21, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

1JZ-GTE VVTi

edit

A citation from a credible source or actual proof will be needed to quote that the 1JZ-GTE VVTi is now an interference motor from just a half point compression increase.

There, I removed it. Frankly, I was under the impression that it was always an interference engine :S Space Turbo (talk) 01:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
