This article relies pretty much entirely on the testimony of Francesco Fonti, with the only corroboration being the submarine dive in 2009, which only saw an unidentified ship on the ocean floor near Italy. According to Greenpeace: "The government declared the wreck surveyed in deep waters off the coast of Calabria turned out to be a passenger steamship sunk by a German submarine in 1917" they also add "Mr Fonti’s reliability as a source on the alleged sinkings was severely doubted", though noting that his other testimony did lead to some arrests. If even Greenpeace is not sure about the viability of this information, why should we present it so strongly as fact? Gigs (talk) 18:25, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

You are of course free to add that information if properly sourced. However, you might want to look somewhat more into the issue and not rely on one single source that challenges the information as you did with the toxic waste dumping in Somalia. Questions

1. There seems to be a hanging sentence/clause "There are also heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury," that does not refer to anything in the paragraph. This could be improved for clarity. Partly a problem with grammar, but also with appropriately linked content. 2. I don't find any valid references within the article that definitively substantiates / proves that the illegal dumping actually occurred.This article seems to be completely reliant on unsubstantiated speculation. Additional sections recommended

This page only includes three sections, none of which explain the impact or significance of the toxic waste being dumped by the 'Ndrangheta. There is no analysis of the incident or why this incident is important. Tucker28 (talk) 19:07, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

All the information in the article does pertain to the article topic. While I think the lead is good, some information in the lead might be better fitted in a content section of the article, that way the information can be expanded upon. Only one alleged delivery of toxic waste is discussed in the article even though the article mentions that 'Ndrangheta was rumored to have sunk 30 ships loaded with toxic waste. Details about some other alleged dumping incidents would be good things to add to the article. Additionally, there are parts of the article that seem repetitive. The information should be as concise as possible to allow for a better read. Some of the sentence structure could also be changed to allow for a better read. I think a picture or two would help the article feel more complete. The sourcing seems to be very accurate and abundant and the tone seems to be neutral. Also, the article doesn't explain the importance and consequences of toxic waste dumping, which is definitely a flaw in the quality of the article. HiggyPiggyZ (talk) 16:29, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
