Ok the images definitely need to be resized. -That and the fact that someone uploaded multiple images of the same shot. What the devil is up with that...? The S

Pointy-kun

The article currently says, "He is also affectionately referred to as "Pointy-kun" by fans of the series.[1]". But the link goes to a livejournal thread about this Wikipedia article, which includes the line, "Every time I see someone use 'Pointy-kun', I'm still amazed that my stupid nickname caught on." That would be one person's opinion against many others that I've seen. That, and that was by the originator of said nickname, who obviously didn't expect it to catch on. In all, I don't think the citation was actually needed. The S 02:37, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Who are the many others that you are referring to? It's true that the originator of the nickname didn't expect it to catch on. However, I'm still looking for evidence that it has, in fact, caught on. Consider that a google search for the phrase "pointy-kun" get only 7 hits that google thinks are worth showing. Of these, the first is this Wikipedia article, and the second is the livejournal thread that's currently cited. After that we have 1 hit from a mirror of Wikipedia. Another three are other livejournal hits, only one of which is really independent, and all of which originate as comments on the use of "pointy-kun" on Wikipedia. The only actual hit for "pointy-kun" that is neither Wikipedia nor Livejournal a Croation blog. Now, the fact that it's Croatian is a plus, but that still adds up to basically two hits in the vastness of the internet. Is that so? Nearly every Ring fansite I've seen has had the name on it at one point or another, if not in the site itself, then in the boards. For example, the results of a search for "pointy-kun" on the Ringworld forums yields such: [2] The S 02:44, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

It certainly is odd that Google doesn't pick up anything from the Ringworld Forums (and Yahoo! returns only three hits from it). At this point, I'm not sure what kind of citation would be appropriate in this case, since it certainly does seem to be in fairly wide use on that forum at least. That by itself doesn't quite seem sufficient, since the purported coiner of the term appears to also frequent that forum. - Nat Krause^(Talk!) 22:57, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

"THM"

I'm wondering if it's really appropriate to refer to him as "THM" in the article. As far as I know, it's not some official acronym or whatever and is purely a fan-used abbreviation, so I don't think it should be used in this article. I mean you're not going to see Lord of the Rings refered to as "LotR" in any of its articles.--Foot Dragoon 00:21, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Scene07.png

Image:Scene07.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
