Defunct?

- I'm coming to the conclusion that Touchstone no longer exists for these 2 reasons:
- They haven't released any new movies since 2016.
- Their website has redirected to their YouTube channel since 2013, which hasn't been active since 2015.
- I feel like inactivity for a long period of time should definitely lead people to believe that Touchstone no longer exists. Agree? Disagree? Please let me know! GamerKiller2347 (talk) 07:09, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
- Touchstone released The Light Between Oceans on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on January 24, 2017. Therefore, that should be the defunct date. GamerKiller2347 (talk) 15:27, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

- That is not speculation. The Touchstone name was revived as a label of WDMP to release DreamWorks Studios films only (with no other film production companies sign on to use it), when the distribution deal ended that ends the use of the label. To say that it is not dormant/defunct, one would have to prove that it is still operational. Spshu (talk) 18:19, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

- The source is the some of the early sources that state the length of the agreement - ending in August 2016. The last date for The LIght Between Oceans in theaters was Nov 3, 2016 there for the use of the Touchstone Pictures is that date; for Touchstone Pictures Home Entertainment home distribution label is a bit sticker. Well in all likely hood all DVD and Blu-rays were sold (out) to distributors even before the retailers place them on their shelves. So for Disney conglomerate, they are done actively distributing the film under Touchstone. We understand give the early sources give context to future that these are defunct/dormant dates. - That's not how companies or brands work. Touchstone didn't disappear just because The Light Between Oceans left theaters. Again, stick with "dormant" if there's no official "defunct" date. Trivialist (talk) 23:52, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

←Yes, it does. Just like they are not going to let some WP editor determine that the Disney Company must continuing using a brand because there is no PR or article stating "Touchstone became defunct in 20xx." How can you over ride the given purpose of the Touchstone label/brand? They effectively gave you it. How much more official can you get than the contract governing which Disney executive have stated is the official use and life time of the brand? Spshu (talk) 02:16, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- We do need some kind of rule on this. For example, if a TV show has not aired a new episode in over a year and there has been no announcement that it has been renewed or cancelled, the series is considered to be over.
