Torture in Bahrain 1990s edit

Created new page Torture in Bahrain 1990s, as the torture cases referred to in previous edits of Torture in Bahrain occured in the 1990s and before. The many instances of abuses of torture in the 1990s now have a dedicated page.

To avoid confusion the current Torture in Bahrain page covers current instances of torture and police brutality only.

Creation of Torture in Bahrain 1990s edit

New page Torture in Bahrain 1990s created for cases prior to 2000. Including all the information on one page(deliberately?) conflates what all sides accept as two very different situations regarding the use of torture. The division allows for a much more accurate portrayal of the current situation and the past.

Image copyright problem with Image:IanHenderson 1964.jpg edit

The image Image:IanHenderson 1964.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Torture Redux

The Revival of Physical Coercion during Interrogations in Bahrain
February 8, 2010

This 89-page report is based on interviews with former detainees and a review of forensic medical reports and court documents. It concludes that since the end of 2007, officials have repeatedly resorted to torture for the apparent purpose of securing confessions from security suspects.

Thanks for the reference. I've drawn on the report's summary to create a section on the "Revival of the use of torture after 2007". Opbeith (talk) 21:04, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reworking edit

The article does not provide a very clear narrative, particularly in the way it leads in to the accusations of torture during the 2011 uprising. It would make sense to make the introduction more of a general introduction and chronology and give the Committee on Torture report and recommednations and the Amnesty letter seaparate sections in the body of the article.
