Spelling
editIs it Torrontés or Torrontes? Badagnani 06:59, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
The spelling in Argentina is "Torrontés". Is the policy of Wikipedia to maintain the foreign spelling of foreign words, at least when they cannot be translated well? 76.230.154.134 (talk) 03:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Future split
editLooking at the ampelography, it looks likely that mendocino will probably be split out at some point in the future - and who knows how the Galicia variety fits in to the picture? Given that Argentine Torrontés is what Wikipedians will find in their supermarket, I suggest that this article is kept for riojano and sanjuanino, with mendocino and Galicia being splintered off if necessary. For now I think it makes sense to keep things together until the molecular evidence gives more guidance. FlagSteward 00:36, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've never herd about those differences between Mendoza's and San Juan/Salta's Torrontes. Is there any source to the DNA study?? How different are they? I believe they are not distinguishable, but I might be wrong. --Mariano(t/c) 13:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
