Copyright and notability issues edit
The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts page should not be deleted from Wikipedia due to "copyright infringement". The text under "history" has been edited, and there does not exist copyright infringement in the TAPA Stats Report Phase One and Two. - It is not being tagged for deletion as a copyright infringement, but because at present it fails to explain why this organization is significant or important. Please read our notability guideline and our specific guideline on notability of corporations and organizations. While at this stage full demonstration of notability is not required, soem indiations in thsat direction are.
- Also, your user name "Tapa theatre" rather suggests tha tyou are affiliated with the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, or even that this account is a group account. Please read our guideline on conflict of interest.
- Note further that documents from a website are presumed to be under copyright unless there is a statement on them specifically releasing them under a free license compatible with Wikipedia's license, or placing them in the public domain, or email to that effect is sent to the Wikimedia foundation. See WP:COPYRIGHT and Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. (Either option permits anyone to reproduce the text for any purpose, including for commercial use, and to edit it and reproduce revised versions.) - Even if the original text were not copyright, like virtually all text from organization web sites, it was overly promotional and unencyclopedic in tone. It would have required heavy editing to make it acceptable. Note that I have just removed this unsuitable text remaining in the lead:
- "...works to create an environment in which the performing arts may flourish and maintain its leadership role in the vitality of the City of Toronto"
- It is pure PR hype (and lifted verbatim from here). A Wikipedia article is not an alternative web site for an organization or a way to "raise their internet profile", although many new editors (often employees of the orgnization) are under that impression. Apart from a neutral, encyclopedic tone, the article must have references from reliable published sources which are completely independent of the subject and verify the assertions in the article as well as the subject's notability.

- Having said that, this is a notable organization that deserves a well-written, properly sourced article. Future editors will find plenty of material at Google News here and here to source it. I've also bannered this talk page with WikiProject Toronto and suggest that the article's creator contact the members there for some advice. Voceditenore (talk) 12:17, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
