propaganda?

edit

This page sounds like propaganda for some brand of Judaism. Doesn't sound NPOV at all. Sounds like it's one of the articles needing attention.

The page was more or less a knee jerk reaction to the main page on Judaism. It was not intended to be neutral on its own. It was rather intended to counter the perceived bias of the page on Judaism. NPOV is an eventual goal. It seemed too difficult to edit the Judaism page to produce a NPOV and I felt that another point of view was urgent even though it is not properly neutral. EW

Ezra, you have got to be kidding with this page. You are taking one of many interpretations of Judaism and giving it sole legitimacy, often with simple rhetorical claims. Even within Orthodox circles many of the views you express are controversial at best (and often considered shtus). Please fix it up or I will do it myself, and I do know my stuff. Danny

It seems to me that whatever is of value in this article (a description of the beliefs of one sect of Jews) could (and should) be incorporated into the article on Judaism. Nevertheless, I made an initial effort to NPOV and clarify the text of the article -- for example, it is at best confusing to claim that God revealed the books of the Prophets and the Writings to Moses at Sinai, given that those books themselves claim later authorship by human beings. If "Torah Jews" really believe that David did not write the Psalms and that Jeremiah did not lament the destruction of Jerusalem, the article should at least explain why. Danny, I hope you can pick up where I left off, Slrubenstein

Much of this article's initial text has been deleted, as the information in their was either a polemic against supposed heretics, or it contained details that would better fit in the entries about the history of Judaism, or Orthodox Judaism. None of it was NPOV, and much seemed to be a polemic against all forms of Judaism that are not Orthodox. I agree with the comments by Slrubestein and Danny. Info can and should be added, but where and how we add it matter greatly. I also am rephrasing some of my earlier comments, because I recognize that Ezra Wax is coming from a heartfelt and honest place, and his changes are being offered with the best of intentions. RK

I think it's safe to say the neutrality of this entry is no longer disputed. If it is, revert. Cyan 19:06, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Requesting to remove this redirect as I have proposed the development of a new article on a group called True Torah Jews. A google search of True Torah Jews directed one to the first website listed above - since this site has no reference to this site one needs to be developed both pro and con and am requesting help with this - firt we need to remove the redirect and have it directed to this groupSnettie (talk) 12:54, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Can we simply turn this into a redirect to Ultra-Orthodox Judaism? Both supporters and detractors should approve. JFW | T@lk 14:37, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I think the current article does contain useful information. What do you think? Jayjg 19:48, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I agree with Jayjg, the article is an anlysis of an important term and notion that cannot simply be boiled down to "ultra-Orthodox" anything. IZAK 09:06, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I disagree with JFW, Ultra-Orthodox Judaism is not the only sect of Orthodox Judaism that calls "Torah Judaism" what it practices. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.202.120.216 (talk) 00:31, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
