Talk:Top Gear series 16

Latest comment: 12 years ago by Halsteadk in topic Conflict with 'List of Top Gear Episodes'

This article is confusing

It currently describes the Christmas Special as the second episode of season 16 (middle east) and the first as being the USA Road Trip.

However, in the episode guide below it has the middle east as episode 1 and the USA Road Trip as episode 7 of the previous series.

Anyone understand what the correct numbers are?

USA Road trip

edit

Is not summarized anhywhere - neither season 15 or season 16 articles mention it. Where should it be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.242.176.205 (talk) 12:18, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Series 15. Melicans (talk, contributions) 17:12, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Actually it seems to be regarded, along with the Middle East special as being separate from both Series 15 and 16, it certainly doesn't appear in the episode list for season 15 http://www.topgear.com/uk/tv-show/series-15 and the BBC list the upcoming new episode due 23/01/11 as Season 16 episode 1 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00y469f. I recommend that both be moved to a new page for the 2010 specials or to create a sub-section of the season 16 article to point out that they are in fact seperate, also if anyone has any info on the production or reaction to the specials from independent sources could you please add it as this article does not meets the notability criteria https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Wikipedia:EPISODE. Depends on where you look; on this part of the Top Gear website, it indicates that the USA Road Trip is episode 7 of series 15. Melicans (talk, contributions) 18:02, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
See the "List of Top Gear Episodes" talk page. Wide consensus (ie common sense) and current sources indicate it's not 15x7...First post, you are correct there should be nothing on this page right now.150.135.115.80 (talk) 05:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Conflict with 'List of Top Gear Episodes'

edit

Currently this page conflicts with what is on the List of Top Gear Episodes, as well as lacking information from recent episodes. I believe that the USA Road Trip and Middle East Special should be placed on this page and referred to a Specials 2010 Part 1/2 and Specials 2010 Part 2/2 respectively rather than "Christmas Special" (in line with the BBC site and the Top Gear site prior to recent weeks). In the leading paragraph series 16 could be described as officially starting on January 23rd with the first episode (http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/series-16-preview-2011-01-17 it refers to 16x1 as "Series 16 Proper"), and the 2010 specials referred to as unofficial starts, since the preview is shown in the USA special. The USA Road Trip isn't listed in series 15 (which I think sources except the Top Gear site agree it shouldn't be) so it's currently non-exist as well. Thoughts/opinions? I really don't want to "discuss by editing" here, and would much rather win consensus of the above.MrCrackers (talk) 22:45, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The BBC America web site lists the USA special as "Season 15 Special -- USA Road Trip. (http://www.bbcamerica.com/shows/topgear/usa-road-trip-special.jsp). It then lists the Middle East special as "Season 16 Special -- Middle East Road Trip" (http://www.bbcamerica.com/shows/topgear/middle-east-special.jsp). These are both scheduled for airing on BBC America in early February. Unfortunately, on their schedule guide, they list the USA special as "Top Gear - Top Gear Season 15 Special (100)" with a link to their main Top gear website, and the Middle East special as "Top Gear - Top Gear Season 15 Special (90)". Flatly, the USA Road Trip isn't a special, so the BBC America site isn't right on that. For it to be a special it has to be just 1 film; no interviews or stars in reasonably priced car segments. Anyways I've decided to be bold and add the USA Road Trip here. There doesn't seem to be much movement on this page to go one way or the other, and I don't think it's right to leave an episode in limbo. I think the intro paragraphs need to be corrected to reflect that the series officially started on the 23rd of January, and it shouldn't be said that the USA Road Trip was 15x07 while the "List of Top Gear Episodes" page doesn't say that nor does the Top Gear Series 15 page include it. So you know more about Top Gear than the BBC, McCrackers? The simple fact is that by classifying these differently from the BBC, Wikipedia is inventing something that doesn't exist - this is an aspect of WP:OR, a synthesis of information not supported by available sources. The Top Gear UK website is clear that the USA Road Trip is Series 15 Ep 7[1] and the Middle East Special is Series 16 Ep 0,[2] no matter how much this pains anyone on Wikipedia. If Wikipedia really thinks its classification of a BBC show takes precedent over the BBC's classification, then there really is something wrong here. Series 16 Episode 3...?

edit

So, like, where's the summary for this season's Episode 3? They're here for the Christmas episodes, as well as Episodes 1, 2, and 4, but not for Episode 3. I would have added them myself if I knew what I was doing, sorry about that...

Can someone please rectify this? Thanks. -- Black Yoshi (talk) 01:17, 17 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Series 16 Preview

edit

In the preview I saw Hammond driving a massive armoured car. Does anybody know why that did not make it into an episode? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ganomi (talkcontribs) 19:44, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

For whatever reason, they didn't have time. Dunno why, but it's not the first time this has happened. Remember the electric chair thing from Toyota? That was shown briefly in a preview at the start of one series and the segment wasn't shown until the first or second episode of the next series. --Imroy (talk) 01:38, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
