It appears we have Tony's wife herself editing this page? Or just an impersonator. --Liface 18:29, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Additional details useful?
Should there be an expanded description of some of his other efforts as a artist? Maybe a link to his Huckjam tour?
Tony Hawk appeared on Spike TV's MXC Almost Live Special (Geeks vs. Greeks) as the captain of the 'Geek' team if anyone feels that's worth mentioning under the Television and Film section. --Bozistheboss 22:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
BMX in Tony Hawk games
I removed that there is BMXing in the TH games, there's a lot of non-skating aspects in some of them (driving, wheelchairs, running, etc)it, and I don't think it's necessary to list them, especially on this particular page.--Dubkiller 23:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
medal typo?
did tony hawk really take both bronze and silver in the 1996 mens singles skateboarding event? I have a hard time believing this, but I don't know enough about the x-games to edit myself. -shoez 01:26, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
According to http://espn.go.com/extreme/xgames/xalmanac_summer.html, Hawk won only the silver in vert singles 1996.

Weasel words
Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968 in Carlsbad, California) is one of, if not the most, recognizable skateboarders of all time.
Even if that is true, it is a perfect example of peacock terms and weasel words. I suggest adding references to quote that, or just rewrite the article. -- ReyBrujo 00:34, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

more history / bio needed?
is it just me or are we missing a significant historical/biographical introduction? i got to this entry through bob burnquist's entry and was pretty impressed by the burnquist's article. i was expecting much more out of this one (as hawk is the more well-known skateboarder). unfortunately, i'm not qualified to make hawk's bio - can anyone else? cheers Abigail trotsky 01:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Lock the article to unregistered users
Tony Hawk seems like it's the most vandalized skate article (although it seems all skateboard articles are frequently vandalized). I'd like to see this one locked to unregistered users. Way more reverts than content being added. Dubkiller 20:51, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Decimal Point line
"It was in this publication that he revealed he actually rounds down to the nearest decimal point instead of rounding up." By itself, this line makes absolutely no sense. If the author would like to expand on it on how it shows his tenacity for striving for protection like you said, add it. Otherwise I could just add "Tony Hawk's blue helmet helped him win the X-Games" and justify it elsewhere. Dkkicks 02:39, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree, and I am removing it. Such statements really needs to be put into context to hold any value. Ufretin 17:13, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Tony Hawk's IQ
While waiting in line at "tony hawk's big spin" at Six flags: Fiesta Texas i had read he had an IQ of 144. is there truth th in this or was it tony hawk propaganda? 68.91.193.158 05:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Less Videogames
Tony Hawk is a profational skate boarder, the best ever. His page should be more focused on him and less focused on his video games. They are more of a side project. --Ncusa367 00:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Selected TV/Film appearances
I think it's time to get rid of this section. IMDB features all of this and more, and the list of appearances is pretty large especially with everyone putting in his cameos. Dubkiller 23:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Year of Birth
I do not immediately have a source to reference for Tony Hawk's year of birth, but I believe it's a comfortable assumtion that "1928" is incorrect. --Raphite 02:01, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

There is vandalism at the bottom of the page. I tried to remove it, but it didn't show up in the code for me to delete. Can an admin take care of this?
- Vandalism removed. What happned was that the vandal had changed the template Tony Hawk Video Games so that every page with the video games box had that code. --Hdt83 Chat 04:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Trivia and Special Appearances
If you're going to add facts about Hawk, do so in a constructive manner. Listing a bunch of special appearances and random little facts about him in one section is considered to be in bad style per WP:TRIVIA and should be avoided. Lists of these things seem to keep popping up in the Miscellaneous section and after the reflist; please remove them if you see them or bring it to the attention of another editor if you're not sure what to do. OverSS (talk) 20:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Tricks Invented
I can see the importance of such a list, but unless someone can provide sources the section should be removed; even if he did invent them and you know he invented them, you can't expect other people to just accept this information without a source. Goes against WP guildelines, anyway.
P.S.: Adding notice to the section. OverSS (talk) 20:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!!
In 2007, Tony and his production company, 900 films, partnered with the Or Die Networks (creators of FunnyOrDie.com) to create his own action sports video sharing site, ShredOrDie.com. The site, which launched on October 23, 2007 is a place where top action sports athletes, filmmakers and everyday users can post action sports clips.
Update the games
Someone update the 'latest game' blurb, it relates back to 2007, whereas he's produced two games since then and Tony Hawk's 10 is coming soon. Zeabrid (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Want information about Tony Hawk's career? You won't find here[[!
Looking at the current version (01 August 2008), It's funny how this article talks about Tony's personal life, his business interests and even has some miscellaneous. But almost no information about his career as a skateboarder!]] ''Link title''''''''None about the competitions he won, the sponsors he had, his filmography, or even when he became a pro.
It would be normal if it was an article about an irrelevant person, but Tony is the most important skateboarder from all times.Bold text
I am trying to add some relevant information about his career, most retrieved from Tony Hawk Official Website, but user Coccyx Bloccyx undid them 3 times. Since this user didn't reply the discussion that I started (nor here or at his talk page), it's hard to understand his actions. His only phrase was "cite a source" (at the article's history page).
I don't see a problem in asking for sources. But I even pointed at my last review that my source is "Tony Hawk's Official Website". And the other user wrote in the article's history page, as he undid my edits again: "cite a VALID source" adding a loud "I WILL NOT ASK AGAIN"
I just wonder, If someone thinks it's fair to ask someone else to spend some time looking for sources, why he can't spend his own time explaining exactly which information needs sources? Or at least why "Tony Hawk's Official Website" isn't a valid source? "I WILL NOT ASK AGAIN" - Well, since when authoritarianism proves anything? Or it's just an intimidation attempt to avoid discussion?
Just look at the other informations brought back with Coccyx Bloccyx edits:
"He is credited with the invention of many aerial skateboard tricks including the Stalefish, Madonna, and McHawk" "He was also the second skateboarder to land a McTwist, a trick named after a Mike McGill of the Bones Brigade, a skate team that Tony Hawk was originally a member of"
The two above don't have a source either. Why the user accepts them and even exchanges my edits with them? But there is one more:
"In his autobiography, Hawk described himself as a "cool kid" -- frustrated, unfocused, and prone to flying off into rages. He was nine years old when his brother changed his life by giving him a blue fiberglass banana board."
That seems to be retrieved from the same website that I used and the other user considered a "non valid source".
Our discussion would be based in facts, and its what I tried when I opened this topic at the discussion's page. The fact is "this article is poor about Tony's career" and that would be the main issue in the article, since the man is a skateboarder and everything else results from that. I would be glad if user Coccyx Bloccyx tries to help, in order of just erasing the information he doesn't see as valid. A good start would be explaining his reasons better, so we could try understanding and work at the same side. Even better if Coccyx Bloccyx could spend some of his time trying to improve this article. We could even work together, looking for information and sources. This can be done using both user's Talk page for discussion until saving our version only when both are confortable with that. Of course, anyone else could join us.
If not that way, I just give up, because it seems like edit wars to me, and I am not interested in that. 189.33.230.155 (talk) 04:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC) Bios106037 (talk) 04:07, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

High School?
"Big Hill Burger High School" in "the South County Coastal area of San Diego, California."
There is no such school and I've lived in San Diego since 1980, that doesn't describe any neighborhoods or areas around these parts. Who came up with THAT? Overall it seems like the article is devoid of anything. But then it knows that. It says so. Poor Tony, only as good as your last... video game? Batvette (talk) 10:38, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
360 flips
The article says that Tony Hawk is known for his "incredible 360 flips." I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. A 360 kickflip is traditionally a street skateboarding move. I've never seen Tony do this on the street. Furthermore, the citation that is linked says nothing about 360 flips. If anyone is known for 360 flips, it is Tony's former teammates, Jason Lee.

Demolition Radio
There is no mention WHATSOEVER on this article of Tony Hawk's show on Radio Faction, on Sirius XM. I'd add something myself, but I'm not terribly familiar with the program, and it's virtually impossible to find anything from official sources other than when it's on. Important Information To Be Added And Sourced
I absoulutely must note that this article is missing some vital information, for instance, we need a list of tricks that he invented i.e The Madonna and we need a section on his company, Birdhouse, the section on Birdhouse must state that the company in question is the reason for his nickname, Birdman, as well. Information must be sourced and need's to be from a neutral viewpoint as this is a biographical article on a living person. Apart from that, I think we're fine. Mcjm4796 (talk) 10:09, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm pretty darn certain the nickname came before the company. See...his last name is Hawk...and he's had birds on pretty much all of his decks since he went pro back in the '80s.Brakoholic (talk) 07:47, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Tony Hawk career
Hello Coccyx Bloccyx, I noticed you erased my edits in Tony Hawk's article. I hope we can come to an agreement about that article, razonable and based in facts, because we both are trying to improve the information available. Here are my points:
- Tony Hawk IS the most influential skateboarder of all time - based in the number of contests he won and in the numerous tricks he invented. This information cannot be denied in his article.
- About the phrase "but is most famous for being the first recorded skater to land the 900": the 900 crowned his fame, but is not the most important reason for his fame in any way. Tony has too many tricks and his fame cannot be credited in only one. And talking about fame, problably his Video Games leveraged his fame outside skateboarding comunity more than any other thing he did.
- About the phrase "He was also the second skateboarder to land a McTwist, a trick named after Mike McGill": If you ask someone who was the first man to step at the moon, many will know. Try asking who was the second. That information is not relevant in Hawk's career, at least not so relevant as many other things he had done.
- The info about Tony's career (when he went pro, his winning records) is very important and I don't understand why they were erased.
Thanks for your time. Bios106037 (talk) 04:24, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- The above user is absolutely correct. As someone who started skating in 1987, and can recall first hand the influence and reputation of Tony Hawk during those years, I was flabbergasted upon seeing the quality of the content in the history and professional career sections of this page.
- That the professional career section starts out with his landing the 900, an event that took place in 1999, after he'd already been pro for 17 years, is preposterous, ludicrous, and any number of other synonymous adjectives. No mention of the Bones Brigade, AT ALL? Insane. That was only the most influential skate team ever, and their skate videos were only the most groundbreaking videos in the sport's history. Why should they be mentioned?
- It's clear whoever is maintaining this page is a flavor of the month skateboarding fan. No knowledge or appreciation of how the sport got to where it was in 1999, when Hawk was able to have his 900 televised worldwide. If the user the above poster mentions has, in fact, been removing numerous edits attempting to include some of this historically crucial information, then I have to agree that the edits are vandalism and vile in nature. I have yet to see a profile of a famous, noteworthy person that is so devoid of information as this. It's a real example of how not to do a bio page.Brakoholic (talk) 07:56, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Film Appearances
Tony appeared as a police officer in a film director by fellow professional skateboard Bam Margera. The film was called Haggard: The Movie. This should be included in his list of TV/Film appearances, if anyone feels like editing that, go for it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.49.180 (talk) 03:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Airwalk shoes
(edit: Tony was actually just a team rider with Airwalk and did not have his own model shoe) (re-edit: Tony Hawk did have a model shoe for airwalk; dark-blue, suede, gum-rubber sole shoe with his signature in its tongue. Although, the shoe was rarely seen because it was released right before he formed Adio with Chris Miller)
- Hawk did indeed have a pro model shoe with Airwalk, but he only skates for Adio as a sponsored rider, he does not have a financial stake in the company. He got on Adio after it was already esablished.Dubkiller

Awful article
This article is absolutely horrible. Don't get me wrong, I like Tony Hawk, but this article is just embarassing to him and his career. Save for the opening paragraph, and the paragraph about his media appearances, this article sucks. And should there really be a WHOLE section on the 900? That should just go under career. But there's not much on this article career-wise. More needes to be added, this a world-famous professional athlete for crying out loud. If I had the time, I would rewrite this article myself. But, since I don't, I'm gonna have to leave it to a more experienced Wikipedian. -Dpm12, 11:53 (PDT) 08 October 2012
