Update edit

New head of Sony Pictures, Motion Picture Group, so have at it: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-tom-rothman-chairman-sony-pictures-20150224-story.html (I no longer can remember my user name, nor want to deal with relearning how to footnote sources) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.171.227.39 (talk) 19:32, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Criticism edit

Though the inclusion of criticism could be interpreted as biased by a few editors, it's 1) sourced 2) Helpful information. 3) Improves the article. and 4) Does not directly convey an opinion one way or another. I would say that Wikipedia: Ignore All Rules applies here. We can make this article better not by deleting most of its content, but instead adding more helpful information. Adding a biography, for instance. The information I restored is obviously in need of cleanup, however, as it contains some examples of original opinion, which does not help improve the info surrounding it. I will also be replacing any information posted after the main content was deleted. Friginator (talk) 05:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The problem is, not a lot of information relates to him. I can find genuine information on Alex Proyas and Gavin Hood having difficulty working on I, Robot and Wolverine, which relates to Rothman, but I cannot see how criticism of films directed by panned directors should belong here. The article also gives the impression Ridley Scott was forced to cut Kingdom of Heaven, which isn't true: what is is that he had to produce two different versions of the script, one for the studio without the character of Baldwin V of Jerusalem. This article is nothing but a biased piece of writing lacking a neutral point of view or sources and only talks about certain controversies which don't say anything about what the man has actually done. Wikipedia has had a long history of bias against Fox. I am removing the entire criticism section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.2.35 (talk) 19:07, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

The criticism section is ridiculous. This is an article about Tom Rothman personally, and obviously well-sourced criticism of him would therefore be appropriate. But aside from Drew McWeenny's open letter and the quick mention in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there isn't even a single word in the entire criticism section, nor in any of the sources cited in that section, that makes any mention whatsoever of Rothman personally. 63.110.89.212 (talk) 03:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The coatrack section is finally gone. I also checked ten of the sources and none of them mentioned Rothman. Prolog (talk) 10:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Way to go in editing this into a lovefest for Rothman. No controversy allowed here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.89.149 (talk) 11:39, 5 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

If anyone doesn’t object, I can rewrite the criticism of Rothman into the page and make it more neutral than it was in the past. MisterShoggoth (talk) 00:43, 21 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

The IP address "173.251.241.10" is linked directly to Sony Pictures Entertainment and is clearly being used by either Rothman himself or someone working for him. Frankypedia (talk) 16:04, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

this page reads like a vainglorious linkedin bio. you would think someone so rich and so old would be more humble than to edit his own wiki page to read like this. truly embarrassing tom. it's time to retire. - 2601:601:601:1B90:BD68:7913:D211:E144 (talk) 18:22, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
