A lot of the information in this article is similar to that presented in a TV documentary on Tom Dowd shown a little while ago -- maybe PBS? Mattisse(talk) 14:18, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, there is a documentary out called "Tom Dowd and the Language of Music." That is most likely what you saw. Phil McGowan (user:PhilyG) 05:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Ray Charles Studio Note

Ray’s own studio, RPM on West Washington Blvd. in Los Angeles, was a four-track studio built by recording engineer Tom Dowd. Ray became proficent at running all the equipment[1]

Galaxy Girl

Several times now editors (74.173.176.190, Ted Tumbale, 70.149.50.23, Kingtutx) have put Jeannette Claudine Romeu aka Galaxy Girl into the list of famous artists that Dowd worked with. I keep taking out the link. The article about Romeu was deleted for lack of notability. I think that Romeu was not made famous by Dowd, and she was certainly not already famous when she worked with him. In terms of Dowd's career, Romeu is an unimportant blip. Dowd can certainly be cited on her article page (if one can be made to survive deletion), but not vice versa. Romeu does not stand out in Dowd's body of work.

How old was she when she worked with Dowd? How successful was the recording? The answer to that last question is critical to her inclusion here.

This is the reference used by User:Kingtutx (a new editor who immediately claimed adminship on his user page), which looks suspiciously like the now-deleted article Jeannette Claudine Romeu aka Galaxy Girl:

  • "People Like You and Me". Jeannette Romeu.</ref>

I conclude that Kingtutx is Romeu's agent and that he wrote the CD Baby article. The point appears to be to promote Romeu. This article about Dowd is not saddled with the need to promote Romeu. Binksternet (talk) 15:33, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Kingtutx is not an agent or representative of Galaxy Girl. A writer for the Romeu Family. Kingtutx did not know Galaxy Girl when the record was released to CD Baby thus impossible for Kingtutx to write the article. Thus, Binksternet is in error and he has not performed diligent research on the subject but freely offers his suspicions without foundation. This is the Youtube video of Galaxy Girl and Tom Dowd see for yourself the tutelage relationship between the artist and producer Tom Dowd interview kingtutx (talk) 21:47, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I see your youtube video, and it certainly establishes a connection between Dowd and Romeu, but the question still stands: How successful was the recording she made with Dowd? If not successful, she is not important in Dowd's career. Binksternet (talk) 22:15, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I agree with the notability issue and I understand the source requirements to be included in Tom's page. Importance of Tom's connection to the Romeu family will be apparent soon. It was one of his last projects before his death. kingtutx (talk) 22:24, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
