The assessment of this page as Low Importance is a piece of arrogance. The waka that brought the ancestors of the Māori people to Aotearoa are a very important part of Māori tradition and Māori identity. The iwi of north Taranaki – Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama and Ngāti Mutunga – trace their ancestry back to Tokomaru waka. Significant descendants from this waka include Sir Peter Buck (Te Rangi Hīroa), Sir Maui Pomare and Te Whiti o Rongomai. Koro Neil (talk) 04:07, 1 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
