The German empire used the style for its governors during certain periods in the history of its rule over the following Schutzgebiete:

As with the other former German colonies, the coat of arms is incorrect and was never used. These were suggested but never implemented. This should really be changed . . . 195.102.24.108 (talk) 16:16, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

  • November 1893 - 13 August 1895 Jesko von Puttkamer (b. 1843 - d. 1918), formerly the last Reichskommissar
  • 18 November 1895 - 18 April 1898 August Köhler (b. 1858 - d. 1902), who stayed on as first Governor

Flag

Should either of the flags below (on commons) whch are listed as the flags of Togoland be used in the article? Brigade Piron (talk) 13:33, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

• Thanks for bringing up the issue- I'm not sure the one on the right is actually the flag. I think it was more of a state emblem. This is just a quick answer. My recollection is that the one on the left was closer to the actual flag--but that image isn't great. I'll see if I can't figure that out this week. I know wikipedia isn't an RS but there is interesting (probably OR) content about this over at [1]. Essentially-the flags were proposed and some plans were drawn up for them to be implemented. I can't find a photo of Togoland at the time that has any of these flags displayed. Indeed, in contrast, if they have a flag it is the German Imperial Flag, see: here. I think I'd be wary about including the flags without an RS clearly establishing their credibility. Even if we put proposed flag--that seems problematic. What are you thinking? Thanks Brigade Piron. That is the flag that I feel most comfortable with. However, an IP re-added one of the other flags. AGF and there appears to be some relevant expertise in the editing. I hope he/she will join this conversation. I'm very willing to be convinced that one of the other flags should be used. AbstractIllusions (talk) 19:39, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
