The picture is Pampas grass, not toetoe

Our pic of "toetoe" is probably pampas grass, the invasive South American species. According to Greater Wellington Regional Council, you can tell pampas grass by its erect flower spikes. The pic has erect flower spikes, while toetoe are more droopy - see the photo on that page. According to this site Karekare pampas, "pampas flowers are erect, toetoe flowers droop rather elegantly." The picture of toetoe on Bushmans Friend is even less like our pic (you have to scroll down). The other matter to think about is when the photo was taken (re time of flowering) - if it was autumn, it's pampas, if spring, it's toetoe. But 2005-08-04 means August 4th, which is spring? Yes, it seems I was confused about both date and species when I uploaded that image. It was actually taken around 5:30pm on April 16th. I agree it appears to be pampas grass too (although the date does not seem to be conclusive here - I took a photo of what was clearly toetoe in flower earlier that day). Genus Update

major update to names made in 2011 requiring large scale updates... btw: the pic 'Toetoe.jpg' definitely doesn't look like pampas grass to me so I'm happy with it. --Grapeman4 (talk) 03:52, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
