Different from the movie?
editAlthough film adaptations can attempt to follow the novels on which they are based, time constraints often force the screenwriter to abandon subtle plot twists in the novel for the sake of more direct ones. Can anyone point out the differences (whatever they may be) between the film and the book?
some differences I ave noticed but I haven't seen the film in a while same with the book so these are at the top of my head.
There is no facial deformities on the faces of the actors (thus not part of the script) Bessy does become a prostitute Dude does not kill a man All the cars are fords even wrecked station wagon on festers lawn in the beginning Lov Bensey is the only person with a non agricultural job(coal miner) Ada Lester sends Ellie May at (the middle of the film) to go and live with Lov Bensey because she knows that they love each other Jester tricks dude into driving into town so he (jester) can sell the car jester sells the car (accidentally) to a police chief and get arrested the family (jester, Dude and Bessy) decides to spend the night at a hotel where jester complains that the light might make him get a bad sleep because he is going to stare at it (out of curiosity). When bessy trys to make a point and get things her way she whistles and starts a sing along with the local people around her thus (humorously) changing the topic.--70.145.124.100 (talk) 20:08, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Jacob
