You're right in saying that the text is in the Public Domain, however to avoid plagarism issues, I've cited and correctly attributed the material. Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 08:53, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

What's the standard for military notability? If rank is it, then this person might have it, but if that's not the case, then I don't see how this person rates an article. Rklawton 04:16, 19 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Any district commander but especially, the First district commander is always a notable person. He has over 6,000 military personnell under his command and control of all federal waters in the Northeastern United States and with the power to enforce US laws (see Posse Comitatus Act) and board any ship or boat at will and the power to regulate all mariners and shipping and boating facilities. In addition as demonstrated during the aftermath of Katrina, the Coast Guard is the only federal agency that functioned in the US in an emergency. In general I do not know of any Wikipedia standard for Military notability. In my opinion all flag officers merit pages. --- Skapur 05:12, 19 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
A google search for "Timothy Sullivan" or "Timothy S. Sullivan" and coast guard and admiral came back with over 100 hits. --- Skapur 05:23, 19 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
WP:MILPEOPLE is the guideline that's been established through repeated consensus and states that a general is typically notable. --Kumioko (talk) 15:20, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deletion tag removed for now edit

I removed the proposed deletion template from the article for now. There is a discussion regarding the notability of 1 and 2 stars generals/admirals on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history. Once the discussion is complete the article can be resubmitted if applicable. --Kumioko (talk) 14:50, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
