Cleanup needed edit

Hi, I'm the one that added the tags (cleanup, story, source) to this article. I'm adding a talk header here, and adding this to the list of the Christianity Project articles. Not trying to be a jerk or anything. I'm being bold and assuming good faith. I'd love to see this article cleaned up and achieve higher standards of writing. Have a nice day! Significant revisions today edit

This evening I did some significant changes to the article.

  • I removed the following images:

I have no problem with the images being re-added to the page, given that they are placed in an appropriate place in the article, and have a caption, explaining the image. The article was basically an image-dump. Images like these need an explanation.

  • I removed the NPOV tag finally, because I removed all the NPOV wording that I could find. The article is truly a stub now.
  • I removed the {{Christianity}} banner, because it wasn't really contributing to the article, and was almost larger than the article. If the article was much larger, it'd be fine to replace the banner again.
  • I properly cited the single good source that I could find in the article. Other sources should follow the model I used, as it keeps the page clean and organized.
  • I put {{fact}} tags after each sentence that still needs to be referenced (most sentences in the article). This article still needs significant work.

Assertions must be supported see WP:V edit

I deleted some assertions that had no backing source and had been marked as such since April. I also added the {{Fact}} tag to some new assertions made in the article since April. This article really needs to be cleaned up or deleted. Especially because it is WP:BLP. Regards, Bill Huffman 18:44, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also added the {{Fact}} tag to Dr. Baymon's claimed credentials since at least the institution that bestowed the credential should be listed. I'll remove the claimed credentials in a week or two if the institution isn't named. I also note that I searched Google for some reliable sources and the only thing that I came up with were two sources for the arrestassault charge. Regards, Bill Huffman 21:06, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've removed unsourced assertions that might reasonably be challenged (and were in my paragraphs above  :-) ). Before adding information such as this back into a WP:BLP article please first carefully review WP:V#Burden_of_evidence. Thanks, Bill Huffman 17:05, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

There was never any arrest. There was an araingnment and the Chargs were later dismissed.

Fixed, thank you. BTW, Please sign all entries on talk pages with four asterisks tildes (~~~~). Thanks, Bill Huffman 16:54, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am the Official Public Relations Officer for Archbishop Timothy Paul, Metropolitan of the International Communion of the Holy Christian Orthodox Church. The information listed on this site is inaccurate. Kevin Riley —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.194.112.60 (talk) 21:54, August 20, 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kevin, welcome to Wikipedia. I reverted the unsourced version of the article that violated both WP:V and WP:NPOV Wikipedia policies. I'm pleased that you're interested in the accuracy of Wikipedia and encourage you in that regard. Someone (User:Jade2K) replaced the article that had all assertions supported by reliable sources with an article that was full of puffery and had no sources listed. This violates Wikipedia policies that I've referenced above. If there is a statement in a Wikipedia article with a reliable source supporting it and you feel the statement is inaccurate, you cannot just delete the statement. One must find another reliable source that supports the contraditory position or one must discuss it on the talk page. Once again, I thank you for your interest in Wikipedia and I encourage you to get an account or if you already have one then please log on. Also, please sign all entries on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). Regards, Bill Huffman 15:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi again Kevin, please be aware that unsupported assertions in Wikipedia articles violate Wikipedia policy. Especially when it involves biographys of living persons. Please carefully review Wikipedia policies and in particular I'd like to direct your attention to WP:V#Burden_of_evidence. Thank you, Bill Huffman 17:58, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Kevin, can you please do a big favor for the article? Someone had put the following credentials in the article, Ph.D., D.TH., H.B.. I took them out because I couldn't find any reference anywhere on the institutions where these credentials were earned. If we provide the institution names in the article then we can put the credentials back in. Can you please provide that information? Thanks, Bill Huffman 19:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
This information has been listed here [1] ClaudeReigns (talk) 07:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Without at least the name of the institutions that bestowed the degrees, I believe that it would be a violation of WP policy to list degrees that had no possibility of ever being verified. I really appreciate your work on the article. Thank you, Bill Huffman (talk) 16:28, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wheaton College is listed on a zoom-info type site. It would be possible to verify which degrees Baymon received there. Please note, this must be Wheaton College in Illinois--the Wheaton College in Massachusetts is a school for women. :D ClaudeReigns (talk) 03:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lots more sources edit

Still itching to delete this? He is beginning to look notable, at least as a moonie and a diploma miller. Kidding! ClaudeReigns (talk) 09:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infobox on Eastern Orthodox Church edit

I removed the box formerly at the bottom of the article listing this man as a patriarch of the Orthodox Church. He is no such thing. His group has nothing whatsoever to do with the Eastern Orthodox Church. 72.65.129.230 (talk) 22:46, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi anon, I deleted the old copy of the delete template that you restored. IIRC, I'm the one that originally added that. You'll need to create a new one. However, The article was significantly improved after I added that and it was deleted. I no longer believe that it's best to delete the article. Although I do agree that this fellow apparently has nothing to do with the Orthodox Church. For example, he seems to be running a diploma mill, at least he was a while ago. This is not a normal Orthodox Church activity. In my mind it would seem to cast doubt on the serious religious nature of his other activities as well. BTW, I suggest that you may want to review the following policy that you may have violated. wp:3RR Regards, Bill Huffman (talk) 23:52, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

If he's being asked to represent a council of bishops at the United Nations, you probably want to rate this high importance. ClaudeReigns (talk) 11:02, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
