first measurements (Satellite geodesy) in which year ? edit

In de:Alfred_Wegener#Späte_Rehabilitation, I read the sentence

Der schon von Wegener geforderte direkte Nachweis der Kontinentalverschiebung konnte mittlerweile durch satellitengeodätische Messungen erbracht werden. (~ the direct evidence already demanded by Wegener could in the meantime be provided by Satellite geodesy measurements.
