Neutrality issues

edit

With almost all information taken from the mouth of the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC) and that of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), two organizations which are aligned to the Syrian opposition, this timeline is barely more than a rebel newsfeed, I am afraid. Gun Powder Ma (talk) 14:16, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wrong. Those a daily death tolls. We are free to add death tolls from other organizations as well. Sopher99 (talk) 14:25, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard/Archive_41#Timeline of the Syrian civil war - A Rebel Newsfeed?. Gun Powder Ma (talk) 14:47, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is not a legitimate neutral source of information, it is a propaganda news feed. Nominated for deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.180.117.168 (talk) 08:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why not add the death tolls collected by Syrian government media and their claims of what happened on a specific day to insure the neutrality of this page? 68.8.252.36 (talk) 00:06, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's a timeline article, not a casualties one. So any casualty information is found at Casualties of the Syrian Civil War , and not here. We're removing body count information to make all the timeline part smaller and fitting within a single timeline article. Firmgood (talk) 03:10, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

The SOHR is unaffiliated, it reports both rebel and governmental human rights violations.Jafar Saeed (talk) 14:10, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect, the SOHR is opposed to the Syrian government. Reporting on both sides does not change the fact that bias may exist. Sovetus (talk) 05:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Firmgood's opinion. Remove the daily death tolls, leave only reports of large-scale or notable deaths in a single incident, and write only about political and military events of the conflict. EkoGraf (talk) 21:59, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note, I tried to raise this issue ~1 year ago, but despite unanimous RS:N agreement Sopher kept his version through persistence, all the timeline articles have this problem, some worse than others. A couple still even use the rebel friday prayer slogans as section titles. 92.15.61.236 (talk) 19:07, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Split

edit

I suggested that this article should be split into two new ones: Timeline of the Syrian civil war (May-August 2013) and Timeline of the Syrian civil war (from September 2013). The United States and France's possible strike or retreat seem to be very significant, and this article is getting to long. Agree? Oppose? Share your thoughts. UN Inspection of Chemical Weapons use

edit

When did the UN Inspection of Chemical Weapons use begin? The inspectors left Syria on Saturday August 31, 2013. When did they enter the country? What is their time line for reporting? Thanks! --Lbeaumont (talk) 21:21, 10 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chronology of the Syrian civil war should re-direct here

out-of-date issues

edit

Hey guys, this info is not out of date, because well, duh, it's a timeline. This heading should be removed from the issues list.

Merge

edit

Propose to merge into the timeline the July 2013 Latakia explosion article, which is basically a small event based on 3 news reports only from July 2013, failing a WP:NOTNEWS criteria. There are thousands of such events (airstrikes/rebel attacks, whichever it is) across Syria each month.GreyShark (dibra) 06:51, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Updating sources of info displayed.

edit

I have just updated the very last unsourced citation in the Article, so i have changed the incomplete reference warning. It was from January 2014 now i will try to update the article to 2014 data ....uhh....dont know how this could be updated if they are 2013 events, maybe some references from 2014 info regarding that(2013) events could be fine.Mr.User200 (talk) 16:09, 29 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Article no longer out dated. Every major event have been documented in May - Dec 2013 timeframe.Mr.User200 (talk) 21:37, 3 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
