Talk:Timeline of teletext in the UK

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Rillington

On 7 May 2023 the following was included for 1979, yet was deleted on 8 May 2023.

The air time was offered and accepted on the basis of being without prejudice to any future telesoftware standard that the BBC might use.

It is added here to the Talk page so that the information is conserved in a conspicuous place.

Perhaps it would be better as

In response to the request for the air time for the broadcast, the air time had been offered and accepted with the condition of being without prejudice to any future choice of telesoftware standard by the BBC.

This was several years before the BBC started telesoftware broadcasts for the BBC microcomputer.

This was the only known broadcast of the original version of 1456 object code.

A revised version of 1456 object code was many years later used on the web as a way to customize a Java Applet. 2A00:23C7:3195:AC01:9DBC:C4A4:8A53:444C (talk) 20:58, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I deleted some of this information because I felt it didn't really fit in with the scope of the timeline.

This information might be better suited to the Ceefax and/or ORACLE articles and if you can find independent references, all the better. Rillington (talk) 23:53, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
