Hollywood Myth

edit

Whats about the reocurring hollywood-cliche about red and green wires to be pulled. Where does it come from? -- Neatlittleeraser 20:41, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

probably some old movie.--Crucible Guardian 03:58, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Other Uses

edit

Should the article specify that logic bombs are only refered to as "time bombs" when they are set to occur at a specific time? Logic bombs are more general and occur when any condition is met.

cookbook

edit

I haven't read the book, but mentionning The Anarchist Cookbook seems right. --Julien 04:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

The article states that a TPU is simple enough for a child to make. Found a very similiar paragraph in [A SECRET HISTORY OF THE IRA] by Ed Moloney (the IRA were the main users of such TPUs). "The device, known as a timing power unit (TPU), was simple to operate and safe enough for a child to use...." A bit trivial I know, but I'd like to change it... how to make a time bomb

edit

When I was reading this article, I noticed that it was oddly specific in some aspects. It gave tips on how to make a better time bomb. Am I the only one who thinks this is an article on how to make a time bomb? Bubbleboys 13:39, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and added the {{Inappropriate tone|date=December 2007}} tag because of it. All that it's lacking, it seems, are the specifics like amounts of materials/chemicals and such. It's basically a very general how-to. Wyatt Riot 00:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Renamed

edit

There are a lot other uses for the term, and as some articles were incorrectly referring to "Time bomb (explosive)". I moved the name from "Time bomb" to "Time bomb (explosive)" and changed the links in any articles I could find in What Links here, when it was relevant. Hervegirod 11:23, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The predominant and original meaning of "Time bomb" is surely the explosive device, so I think "Time bomb (explosive)" should be moved back to "Time bomb". If links elsewhere are faulty, then those other links should be fixed (via a bot or AWB if there are a large number). Any comments?--A bit iffy 12:39, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I agree and have done it. Hervegirod if you still want to make the move please put in a WP:RM --Philip Baird Shearer 22:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that Philip.--A bit iffy 07:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

guide?

edit

This article reads like a guide on how to time bomb. Some would probably find that inappropriate.

Original Research

edit

Anyone want to tackle (either add references for or remove) the vast amounts of original research in this article? I can probably get to it in a few days if nobody else does, but I have a feeling that this is going back to stub status. Wyatt Riot 22:48, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:CS C4 Snark Rayzian Gooseman GaborDesign.jpg

edit

Image:CS C4 Snark Rayzian Gooseman GaborDesign.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Wires

edit

In movies and TV shows, bomb defusers trying to defuse time bombs are often faced with two wires, not knowing which to cut to avoid the bomb going off. Is this an accurate part of time bomb construction and defusing? Badagnani (talk) 05:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Improvised?

edit

Since when does a time bomb have to be "improvised"? A time bomb is a bomb that's triggered by a timer. It doesn't matter how it was made. —Codrdan (talk) 19:21, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

I am thinking it may be beneficial to make a reference to timebombs being a common plot device in works of fiction, but otherwise removing the 'In popular culture' section. A laundry list of films, video games, etc. that feature (a) timebomb(s) doesn't lend much with respect to covering the topic.--Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 02:25, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
